•I love it when I catch you looking at me, and then you smile and look away•
To say the atmosphere was really awkward, would be an understatement.
I could literally feel the discomfort and uneasiness oozing out from everyone. There was no mistaking the tensed air in the room right now and I didn't even know how to break the ice.
Zach was glaring intensely at Gabriel who was seated next to me while Maddison shifted uncomfortably on the seat next to Zach. Brett was adjacent to me and was talking with his eyes. Don't even ask how I understood him. The situation compelled me to suddenly acquire telepathy.
'What the fuck is with this atmosphere?" His eyes said.
"Don't even ask me!" I replied back with my eyes, hoping he would understand and thankfully he did because he scowled at me and looked away. I guess this situation was even harder for a guy like Brett to break.
I looked at the other people seated in the room. Chance and Kiara were obviously oblivious to the whole atmosphere and were in their own happy world. Typical of them. Gemma was still blushing to have Noah by her side but I could notice how relaxed her composure was next to him. She really did have feelings for him. Jenna was- uh-oh.
Jenna was looking at me intensely with the 'you-better-explain-everything-to-me-later' look. Shit. I have a shit load of explaining to do.
"Aren't you guys friends?" Noah's voice made us all look at him. I silently thanked him for bringing is out of this awkwardness.
"We are. Why? And who the fuck are you anyways?" Brett asked, finally, properly noticing Noah. I wanted to laugh but held it back in.
"Calm down, dude. I'm Gemma's boyfriend." He casually replied while Gemma coughed suddenly.
"No, you're not!" She defended, blushing furiously.
"Ha."Brett scoffed. "Little Gemma finally has a boyfriend! Thank the heavens! I thought you'd die single with cats and dogs around you." Brett teased while Gemma scowled and launched at him, both of them fighting playfully.
I really loved their friendship. Next door neighbors and best friends since they were 5 and they had this sibling kind of relationship. I found it really cute.
"But seriously. What's with this atmosphere? I find it really uncomfortable." Noah continued after prying Gemma away from Brett.
"It's because there are some people here that are not needed." Zach gritted his words out, looking directly at Gabriel. Gabriel just shot a blank look at him.
"Oh. Is it because of me." Noah asked, getting a little nervous.
"No, it's not you." Zach rolled his eyes then landed it again on Gabriel.
I sighed, annoyed with how he was acting so I decided to step up. "Everyone, let's play a game!" I chirpily said. I cringed inwardly at how my voice came out.
"Ooh. Games!" Kiara cheered, finally getting in the conversation. "I know what we should play."
"What?" Brett asked; getting all excited as well.
"Never have I ever. Yes, it involves drinks as well. I brought some. Someone will state what they have not done and whoever has done it must take a gulp off their can." She grinned before turning to ask Chance. "Babe, can you go get them?"
Chance pecked her lips then ran out the door towards the car. He was whipped.
"But I don't drink." I tried to reason out. No way in hell was I about to get drunk and embarrass myself again.
