The run

Chapter 7

Classes went by fast and all I did was assignments and project works. School has ended and I'm heading towards the detention hall. I give my slip to Mr. Edgerton, the supervisor for detention. I head towards the back row and sit down. When Mr. Edgerton dozes off, I take my phone out of my bag and take my headphones. I start playing Headlines by Drake. I put my head on my desk and rest. On my fifth song, Do I wanna know by Arctic monkeys I can sense someone's staring at me so I look up and find Ethan with a serious look on his face. "We need to talk."

Ethans pov
I head towards the detention hall and see Mr.Edgerton asleep so i leave my detension slip on his table. I see Mackenzie listening to music. I have to tell her what's about to happen. I didn't want to kidnap her brother. She must know the truth. I get enough strength and walk up to her. I stare at her until she looks at me. "We have to talk." I say.

Mackenzies pov
Huh? He wants to talk. About what. It could be a trick....Think. "What for?"
Well that's a dumb question. What for? Oh,I kidnapped your brother and I may kill him. Consider the consequences.
"You know what for!" He growls. I can't take it so I slap him. It sounds through the whole room. Waking Mr. Edgerton with it. Darn!
"What the!?..."
"All I want to say is that the leader wants to kill your brother so we have to steal your brother from him." He rambled. It takes time for me to register what he said and my eyes widen in fear. "What?" I shout. Mr. Edgerton glared at us and went back to sleep.
"We need to make a plan Ion how to get him and quick." He says.
"Why do you even care?, last time I checked you were threatening me." I say. He lets out a long sigh and looks at me with an unreadable emotion in his eyes.
"I never wanted to be part, I was forced to join because the leader killed my parents so that's why I work for him." He says.
"So what should we do? My brother can't die." I say.
"We need to sneak out of detention now so I'll jump out of the window and you follow." He says.
"What the hell! Are you crazy?" I whisper yell.
By the time I finish the sentence he's climbing out the window. When he's out I huff and tip toe to the window. "You're unbelievable." I exclaim.
I attempt to climb out the window but I slip and fall out the window. I close my eyes waiting for the pain to erupt when I come in contact with the ground but it never came. I open my eyes and see Ethan holding me in his arms. "Put me down." I say.
"Are you sure?" He asks
"Yes, I'm-" I get cut off when he drops me on the ground and I let out a groan.
"Ouch, I meant gently." I snap.
"Sorry but you said I should put you down." He says amused.
"Whatever, let's just go."
