"Alex," A gentle voice reached the boy in question's ears through the many voices in the school hallway.

He turned. "Yes?"

Elizabeth "Eliza" Schuyler stood a few feet away from him, her hands shyly clasped in front of her. "Do you have a moment?"

"Of course." He leaned against his locker.

"I- I'm sorry to bother you, and I know you probably don't have time, but-"

"It's okay." He waved away her babbling. "What is it?"

She hurried on. "I though. . . Maybe you'd like to spend some time with me after school? Maybe do homework together or something?"

Alex sighed. "I don't know. I promised to spend time with Maria today, and I tend to spend my afternoons with the boys. I just don't think I have time. I'm sorry."

"Oh." She seemed to shrink away from him in disappointment. "That's okay." But her eyes were on the floor, and she took a faltering step backwards.

"But hey," he smiled at her, "you could sit with me and the gang at lunch."

Her whole face lit up. "Oh! Really?!"

"Sure, why not?" He shrugged.

"That would be- I'd like that!"

"Then it's settled." He gave her another smile. "Now, we'd better get a move on, class will be starting soon. I'll see you at lunch!"

With a happy goodbye, Eliza hurried off to her locker, practically skipping.

As Alex made his way to his first class of the day, he saw John also trying to get to class, but being hindered by Eliza's little sister Peggy. Alex couldn't help but laugh at the sight.

She was sat down on the floor, hanging onto his leg

"Peggy! Please just let me be! I need to get to class!" John cried, shaking his leg in an attempt to detach the wild girl. But she wouldn't let go.

"No."

"Please, Peggy! I'll get detention for being late!"

"No."

"Why not?"

"No."

Seeing Alex approaching, John gave him a pleading look. But Alex couldn't stop laughing. Glaring at him, John turned back to the girl.

"Margarita Schuyler, you let me go right now or I will tell Angelica."

That got her off. She scampered down the hallway, like a mouse, getting lost in the shifting river of students.

Alex was doubled over in fits of laughter.

"What's going on here?" Lafayette asked, coming apon the two.

"Peggy grabbed my leg and wouldn't let go," John pouted. "And Hamilton just stood there and laughed."

Alex straightened, wiping tears from his eyes. "What is a boy to do? Those Schuyler girls are impossible to get rid of once they've taken a liking to you."

John grinned. "I've heard Schuyler boys are that way as well."

That sobered Alex. "Don't remind me."

"Remind you of what?" a voice piped up from behind Alex, and he internally groaned.

"Hello Philip," he said through gritted teeth.

"Hey Alex! How's it going? I heard you did great on your History test the other day! Do you have any pointers for me?"

He didn't even have the chance to answer before the boy chattered on.

"We're having a test next week. I know you're a grade above, but maybe you have something that could help me?"

"I have to get to class," Alex mumbled.

"Alright, see you later!"

Lafayette and John followed Alex, grins on their faces.

"Those darn Schuylers!" John commented.

"Shut up."

A/N: Philip is an AU version of Phillip Hamilton, but as I couldn't use that name without having him related to Alex, I made him a Schuyler.
Peggy and Phillip are twins, Eliza is a year older than them, and Angelica a year older than her. Just though I'd clear that up. :)
