Burr brushed off his pants, looking sheepish, but Alex ignored him.

His gaze was fixed singularly on Eliza.

She met his eyes for a few moments before dropping hers to the ground. She murmured a question to Burr, asking if he was okay, and he replied, assuring her he was.

Alex was still watching her.

What was she doing here? Climbing trees with Burr of all people?

He felt a rush of jealousy. She should be climbing trees with him.

But he had been a jerk, and now that would never happen.

He let his gaze fall to the ground angrily.

When he looked back up Burr was watching him, looking a little guilty.

"Hey," he said. "I'm sorry for how I've been treating you."

Alex shrugged. "Whatever."

Eliza glanced at him, looking a little concerned.

"Eliza. . ." Burr cleared his throat awkwardly. "Can I talk to you for a second?"

"Sure."

With a glance in Alex's direction, Eliza followed Burr a little bit off. Alex watched them resentfully.

Burr appeared to be explaining something. He look embarrassed, and Alex watched as Eliza's eyes widened in shock.

Suddenly the girl came walked straight towards Alex. He took a step back defensively, expecting to be yelled at or slapped, but she just came right up to him and threw her arms around his neck.

Alex froze for a second, stunned.

But soon he relaxed, wrapping his own arms around her and burrying his face in her hair.

"I forgive you," she whispered. "I forgive you, I forgive you, I forgive you."

Alex could feel tears coming to his eyes and he quickly blinked them away.

He couldn't believe his ears.
