Chapter 7

Hee Ra

I arrived at the library earlier so that I can do some homework before DongWoo sunbaenim comes and I can ask him to teach me later. I took out my worksheets and put on my headphones selecting the best music for studying.

Thanks to DongWoo sunbaenim's tutoring last night, I got all the correct answers for my maths worksheets and was graded a B for the first time. I must thank him later when he comes that's why I brought snacks. I looked at the black notebook that he left back behind yesterday. It looked like a notebook used in the anime 'Death Note'. I wonder what is inside the notebook.

"Nope, you can't look at other people's stuff without asking, Han HeeRa," I told myself closing my eyes but he is not here yet so it won't hurt to just take a peek at it.

It is not like I would die after seeing it or be cursed with some unknown illness like the victims in Death Note. I opened the notebook and inside it revealed song lyrics?? I didn't know that Dongwoo is musically talented. The song with the title 'First Love' caught my attention the most than the other songs that he had written. Who is his first love??

I heard someone clearing his throat and I immediately closed the notebook. I got up and hit someone in the process.

"Ouch!!" We both said in unison. I looked up and saw DongWoo sunbaenim rubbing his forehead. That must have hurt a lot. Mine hurt a lot too.

"Mianhae sunbae!!" I said quickly apologizing to him multiple times and he put his hand signaling that I should stop.

"Why were you looking at my notebook??" He asked and I immediately gave it to him.

"You left it here by accident last night and I was planning to give it to you when you come later but--"

"But you took a peek at it. Don't you know that it is rude to invade someone's privacy??"

"I know!! I am truly sorry, Sunbaenim!!" I said with my head down.

Instead of seeing fumes coming out of his head, I saw a smile. A gentle smile in fact. "Sunbaenim, why are you smiling?? Why are you not mad at me??"

"I am but it's natural human instinct that they would want to peek at something that they aren't supposed to. I do that sometimes too." He said still smiling. He's really different from Min Yoongi. He is like an angel while Min Yoongi is the devil. A Satan.

"What questions do you not know from this worksheet??" Now he is sitting next to me with a pen in his hand.

"These two questions please," I said pointing to him the questions on the paper.

"Sunbaenim, may I know what sport do you specialize in??" I asked very carefully. I've been dying to know what sport he does so that I can find him much more easily.

"Snooker, I do snooker. Why??"

"Nothing, it is just that I want to know more about you and your life on campus," I said with my hands cupping my face. "What do you do normally beside snooker and writing music??"

"My life is very boring as you can see. There is nothing for you to know about."

"How is it boring when you write music in your free time too?? I have training almost every day until night and it is boring as well but I liked it a lot so now I have to give it up because I promised that someone that I would give up that center position to him."

"Who's that guy?? Is he something very annoying to you??"

"It would be a waste of time to rant to you but I will still do. This very annoying guy is called Min Yoongi, trains with me together on the basketball team. Always annoy me every single day." While I was ranting about Min Yoongi, I noticed DongWoo sunbaenim had a very unusual expression on his face. It is neither amused or insulted. He just sits there with a 'don't give a fuck' expression. What is he even thinking in his mind??

"DongWoo sunbaenim??" I said and he lifted his head up.

"I wasn't sleeping so continue where you stopped."

"Ok so, long story short. I begged him to let me out of the library. To do that, I would have to give up my center position to him for the next 3 months while I study."

"Really?? Why would you do that??"

"I had no choice. I had to pass this semester or I would be dropped to the worst class in the level and I don't want that to happen."

"I understand. Guess that you would have to give up some things in order to gain some in return."

I nodded. "That's why I have to pass in order to get my center position back. He can't play center forever."

"Then work hard to get your center position back. I'll help you as much as possible."

"You will??" He nodded. "Thanks a lot, sunbaenim." I smiled, turning back to the worksheets.

"Do it like that and you would solve the problem. Look out for this kind of questions, they are one of the most challenging." He said circling the question number with a pencil that he had. "Once you have broken it down into simpler equations, it would be easier to solve. Got it??"

I nodded and sipped on my drink while he continues teaching me. He is really good at teaching. I wonder how smart is he?? And one more thing, I noticed how similar his handwriting is to Min Yoongi. I didn't mean to insult, but they look so similar. I hate to say this but I got a really bad feeling that Kwon DongWoo and Min Yoongi are the same people. But maybe they aren't.

"Now you try it on your own." He said moving the paper to my side and I clicked my pen doing the questions.

A hand sling over my shoulder and I looked up. It was Ji Na. "Why are you doing here?? Shouldn't you be watching your dramas now??" I asked her and I swear that Dongwoo sunbaenim tried to keep away from Ji Na.

"I should but it would be fun to see you studying and meeting your handsome tutor. DongWoo sunbaenim, am I right??" She asked DongWoo sunbaenim who is still avoiding her gaze. I wonder why.

He nodded. "DongWoo sunbaenim, thanks for tutoring HeeRa. Thanks to you, she got a B for the first time."

"Really?? That's good." He spoke but it sounds a bit weird.

"DongWoo sunbaenim, sorry but can you not talk to your juniors with your head down??" Ji Na spoke in a more serious tone.

"Dongwoo sunbaenim is more shy to strangers and--" I said but she ignored me.

"Even if you are shy, you should at least let me see your face for once. How did you even tutor Hee Ra in the first place??"

"Fine..." He slammed his hands on the table and lifted his head up, pushing his glasses.

Ji Na looked at his face very carefully and gasped loudly. "Aren't you--"

"Hey cousin!! Long time no see!!" He suddenly got up and shook Ji Na's hand but she refused.

"What happened??" I asked.

DongWoo sunbaenim covered her mouth with his hand. "Guess that I would have a talk with my cousin." Ji Na is his cousin??

"Wait!! I'm not--"

"We will be back in a while." He said while dragging Ji Na behind him. But I thought that Min Yoongi was her distant cousin?? Why is Dongwoo sunbaenim her cousin when she doesn't have any relatives with the surname Kwon?? Her own relatives are only the Joos and the Mins, there were no Kwons at all.
