Ataku found rabbits out in the open. She remember the villagers loved rabbit because it was a pleasurable meat. Meaning it wasn't often you tasted it. If she slayed a rabbit would it be cruel? Ataku knew animals were sacrificed for humans all the time. A rabbit was nothing compared to everything else. Ataku ran and stabbed her sword through a plump rabbit. It died right away, blood trickled down her sword. She held the rabbit by its white fur. A beautiful clean kill but very sad. She was going to take it back to the cottage when she felt huge footsteps coming her way. The ground shook slightly and then she heard a snarl. It sounded like a bear in fury. He busted through the bushes and roared like a lion. It was a huge grizzly bear. It raced towards her lunging with his snout pointing towards his target: the dead rabbit. Too frightened and surprised to fight back she ran for her life. The bear gave chase as she ran and ducked past tree branches and vines. Kamodichi heard a bear roar in the woods which was new to him. Annura and Erin stayed on the hill. "Its not safe in the woods right now" Annura said. "Where is Ataku" Erin asked. Kamodichi realized she wasn't here, he nearly panicked. He drew his own conclusion and it involved the bear. He ran into the woods without a second thought with both Erin and Annura calling after him.
Ataku ran pass another tree and the bear came crashing in like a stampede. Kamodichi was running her way hearing the humongous weight of the bear. He hadn't even seen it yet and was already chilled to the bone to look it in the face. He drew his sword running briskly through the untamed forest. Ataku's heart was racing she was scared and the bear was two times bigger than she was. Ataku had to think fast and that was to climb a tree. The trees were too thick and the branches were too high up to climb. She ran behind a tree to catch her breath but she could hear the bear coming closer. She heard foot steps and they were fast, she raised her sword for an attack. Her breathing was hard and she couldn't quiet down, would she have enough strength to attack what was coming? The bear roared in frustration. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Kamodichi running towards the deadly mammal. His sword raised, it glowed with power, he swung his sword sending his beam cutting and slicing the bear's hide. It howled in pain and growled with anger. It tried to use its long claws to ripped Kamodichi into pieces but Kamodichi dodged out of its way. It tried to charge at him like a bull. Kamodichi was not ready for this tactic and covered his faced with his armored arms and braced for impact. The bear slammed straight into him with force of an elephant sending Kamodichi flying off the ground and sending him several feet away from where he was standing.
He landed painfully on his back and the sword fell from his hands. He cursed but he was down, his body hurt all over and the bear roared with triumph. The bear was charging at him again and this time Ataku knew this would kill him. Ataku was not going to let him die, even though this was a strong bear and he would more than likely kill her. She was not going to let him die. She raced in front of the bears path. Kamodichi was looking straight at her as the bear took his razor sharp claws and hit her sending her soaring left with one blow. No one would survive that hit for she was also slammed into a tree. "Noooooo!" Kamodichi cried out in fear, pain and anger.
He got to his feet in an mini struggle. He grabbed his sword, his eyes were blood shot.Suddenly a huge blue flash of lightning sliced the bear in half. It was Ataku and Ataku's eyes had no pupils. She was limping but no pain came from her. Kamodichi ran to her and looked at her, her sword was at her waist. Her eyes were coming back to their normalcy. "Kamodichi" she was finally looking at him. She was breathing very hard. "You're OK" she said with relief and hugged him. What just happened? Where did the blue lightning come from? How was Ataku still alive? But she was and no one would be able to explain it. He returned her embrace she told him how she killed a rabbit and all of sudden the bear came after her. "So now we have a bear and a rabbit. Let's get Annura to smoke it and dry it for the trip. Unless you want to rest" Kamodichi looked at her. "No I am fine" Ataku smiled. Her limping was gone and she went over and picked up her rabbit. Kamodichi was very surprised after all that happened she stood like nothing happened. She turned to Kamodichi and smiled then they headed back to the cottage with huge bear carcass.
