Looking at my son he was beyond stressed out. The normal smile lines his face held were replaced with worry and weariness. Qasim looked at me for a moment and I held my arms open. Laying in my arms he broke down. I said nothing, only held him tighter as his tears soaked my shirt. I rubbed his back and consoled him the best I could.
Once he was quiet, I took the time to speak.
"What's going on son?" I questioned, feeling his body tense.
Wiping his face, he shook his head. "I messed up bad ma" he responded.
"How?"
"Somehow I ended up sleeping with all three of Mariah's cousins. Mia and Tee had kids by me, and I only had sex with Rina. The crazy part, is Mia, Tee, and Rina are sisters. Honey says she's okay with all this, but ma that's a lot for a woman to digest. Especially with everything she's been through in her past."
Running his hand down his face. He let out a sigh. "I promised I would never hurt, not intentionally- but ma- she gone leave me" he mumbled.
"Did she say she was leaving you Q, or are you letting your thoughts speak for you?"
"No, but ma, be serious here. If you met a guy, fell in love, and let all your walls down- and something like that popped up, you wouldn't leave?"
"I met a guy, fell hopelessly in love, got addicted to drugs and nearly lost the best part of me- which was you. It took you time, but you forgave me. In a situation like that, any woman would be hurting. Yet, if she loves you enough- the rational part will say, this all happened before me. Unfortunately for you, it happened to be her family- but if Honey loves you the way I know she does-then baby she'll ride through this! You both know God, pray baby boy."
Smiling up at me, all I saw was my little boy. The little boy that smiled unconditionally about anything. Especially when his mind and heart are at ease.
"Ma, besides all this drama. I bought a shop, me and Kaydence went half and half on it. I got tired of working for old money bags and young Ivy League" he explained, smiling hard.
His smile caused me to smile. I was proud of my baby boy. Knowing his life wasn't amazing- yet he'd worked to change it around.
"So, how'd you get involved with the gruesome threesome?"
"I met Tee first. I was around 17 or 18. She was everything in my eyes. Reminded me of you, and I felt like you'd be proud to have her as a daughter in law.
