Chapter 4

Day 2 - The beginning

After dinner Scott was sat on the porch steps in the back garden, he was looking up at the stars, remembering the times when he and his siblings were younger and snuck out late at night to stargaze.

He smiled to himself remembering the fond memories of his childhood.

"What's got you smiling?",

Scott turned around and saw Zoe walking out with Mia behind her.

"Just thinking of the times we used to stargaze when we were kids", he told her. "What brings you two lovely ladies out into the cold harsh night?".

Zoe punched his arm and smiled as she sat down next to him, "I ain't no lady Scott", she declared while Mia chuckled as she sat down next to Zoe. The three of them sat in silence, listening to the trees blowing gently in the wind. But no sooner had they sat down next to him, Mia got up and stretched, "I'm gonna head off to bed, ill see you two in the morning".

The siblings said their goodbyes and watched Mia leave and enter Zoe's trailer.

Scott sighed and laid back resting on the porch and facing the stars, Zoe laid back and joined him.

"Hows your school work going?", she asked.

"It's going good, I've caught up from when I wasn't there for doctor visits",

"That's good",

"What about you Zoe? Did you get any replies for the colleges you wanted to go to?",

Zoe sighed, "I only got one back", Zoe reached into her pocket and pulled out the letter, handing it to him.

Scott opened the letter:

Dear Miss Zoe Baker,

We are proud to say that you have been accepted to Scorpio medical college.

We can't wait to see you next year.

Scott couldn't help the huge smile cross his face, "you got in?!".

"Yeah!" Zoe said smiling,

"Going to be moving out in late August",

"Wait! I thought you told mama and dad you didn't wanna move out?", Scott asked.

"I didn't October last year... but seeing as Lucas is staying and getting a new house here at home, you won't be on your own, I applied... knowing I wasn't leaving you here on your own", Zoe told him.

"How are you telling mama and dad?",

"I dunno... When the time comes I guess... Best to enjoy the summer now while we have a chance",

"I'm sure they will be proud that you want to study medicine, no matter how far away from home you are",

"Thanks, Scott", Zoe reached over and brought him into a hug, "I knew I could count on you".

Zoe smiled then let him go, but not before ruffling his hair and getting an annoyed growl from her brother. Both of them continued to look at the stars.

"Promise me one thing, Zoe?",

"And that would be?",

"Promise me you'll come back, to visit? Whenever you can?",

Zoe laughed, "I promise".

It was silent for a while, then Scott got up. "I'm gonna head in", Scott got himself up and into his wheelchair without a problem, Zoe got up as well.
