Chapter 29

"So... Scott, you used to live here?" Rowan asked as the  Chinook came to land outside the temporary base Blue Umbrella had set up in a massive clearing in the swamp, to find the missing B.O.W. "It's nice. Did you live near these swamps?", Rowan questioned as he looked out the window at the forest and water outside.

"If this is because of my accent? I wasn't some hillbilly living in the middle of nowhere", Scott sighed at yet another question to find out more about his past, regretting that he was sat between Nat and Rowan, with Aiden and Ivan sat opposite them. Nat and Rowan had been asking questions none stop since they took off. Aiden didn't help as he tried to pry answers from Scott as well. But all three failed as Scott never gave them an answer as he just deflected the question or answered simply yes or no.

"So, you lived in the town?", Rowan asked instead.

"Were your parents rich?", Nat asked,

"If his parents were rich why was he on the streets when Chris picked him up?", Aiden reminded them.

"Can you three just drop it", Scott hissed at them, "you ain't gonna get anything out of me. We are here to help find a missing B.O.W not work out my past, that I don't want to talk about".

"Leave him alone", Ivan pitched in after being quiet throughout the whole trip, "you're driving me up the wall". All three of them lowered their heads submissively and avoided eye contact with both Scott and Ivan.

"Thanks", Scott said only for Ivan to snort at him and carry on looking out the window as the  Chinook landed. 'Rude', Scott thought as the pilot told them it was ok to leave. The five of them grabbed their bags and climbed out of the helicopter to be greeted with two soldiers standing with their hands behind their back. They both wore the same uniform and helmets. "Which one of you is in charge?", the guy on the right asked them as they disembarked.

Ivan put his hand up slightly as they approached the two soldiers, "I am the most senior agent here", he told them. The guy on the right nodded, "Captain Dekker, I'm in charge of the operation here.

"Captain. I'm Ivan, senior agent. This is Aiden, Natalie, Rowan and Scott", Ivan seemed to say through gritted teeth as he indicated to each of them. "I was told a Colonel Smith was in charge?", Ivan bluntly asked the captain.

Dekker nodded, "he was. We lost him a few hours ago". Ivan didn't say anything and nodded his head,

"I'm sorry", Scott found himself saying and getting the captain's attention. "Do you know what happened?", Scott asked as Ivan turned and shot daggers at him as he spoke up.

"The colonel and his lieutenant went to investigate some new information we obtained while you were still in the air", Dekker told them, "we found their bodies in the swamp not far from where they were meant to be heading".

"What was this new information?", Ivan asked as he turned to the captain, sidestepping to get in Scott's way.

"All in good time", Dekker said, "first let me and lieutenant Jackson here, show you where you five will be staying. Let me warn you beforehand it will have to be in the room where we are going through documents gathered about this B.O.W and the company that created it".

Ivan nodded his head, "that's fine. Lead the way".

Dekker nodded his head and both him and the lieutenant began to walk off to the tempory cargo creates they where using to house everything for their operation. Scott sorted his bag out onto one arm and followed them inside the linked up cargo containers. Inside Scott was relieved that the place was cooler than it was outside, he had forgotten how hot it could get here, compared to the summers he had in England.
