Opening his eyes, Scott felt his eyes burn when he opened them to a bright white light. Closing them again, Scott blinked a few times until his eyes got used to the bright light. 'Where am I?', Scott thought as he moved his hands and tried to sit up, groaning Scott tried to look around to see where he was. But someone made him lay back down.

"Easy," they told him as they carefully made him lean back, "you've been out for hours".

"What's", Scott tried to say but he ended up stopping and trying again, "what's going on?". Scott blinked to try and clear his vision to try and see the person. "All in good time", the person told him as Scott squinted to try and get a better look at him, but all he could see was a blur. "Just, sleep", the person told him as Scott felt the person place his hand on him and close his eyes.

"You'll find out someday", the person said as Scott drifted back to sleep quickly. The next time Scott opened his eyes, the light wasn't as bright and he was more awake than the last time he opened his eyes. Groggily Scott sat up on the bed he was on and rubbed his face, "it's like the worst hangover ever", Scott said as he held his head.

"That's probably from all the painkillers they're giving you", a voice said off to Scott's side. Lifting his head carefully Scott saw Chris standing in the doorway, of the room he was in. "How much painkillers?", Scott found himself asking.

"Loads", Chris said as he walked into the room, "a doctor should be here soon".

"What happened after I lost consciousness?", Scott asked,

"After you passed out. I had to wait with you until an evac unit turned up to treat you and take in Lucas", Chris told him as he stood beside his bed, "you scared me for a second you know? I thought I killed you".

"I thought you did as well", Scott told him as a doctor walked in. "Ah you're finally awake," he said as he walked over to him, "your lucky", the doctor said as he stood by Chris, "if you had been shot any lower the bullet would have embedded itself into your spine. The high impact round would have shattered the bone completely".

"But I'm gonna be ok?", Scott anxiously asked. The doctor nodded his head, "you should be, you will be extremely sore for a few weeks through", the doctor told him, "a bruise has started to appear on your lower back where the bullet embedded itself into your vest".

"I thought he was dying down there", Chris told them, "what made him lose consciousness?".

"Cases like this", the doctor said indicating to Scott, "it is common that the body shuts itself down because it can't deal with the pain the bullet caused. Those bullets you carry are designed to penetrate heavy tissue and material, made for monsters, not normal people. They pack a punch".

"So, that's why I'm being pumped with a load of painkillers?", Scott asked and the doctor nodded, "just to help you to overcome the immense pain you were feeling when you were shot. The painkillers were turned down yesterday, so you could regain consciousness".

"How long have I been out?", Scott asked him,

"Nearly a whole day and a half", the doctor told him, "you may feel a bit groggy for a while, but you should be able to get up and walk around, just be careful if you do decide to walk around". Scott nodded his head in understanding, "let me take your drip off, so you can move around if you want to", the doctor said as he carefully took Scott's left arm and detached the IV drip from his arm.

"I'm sorry, but I must go, I have a few others to attend to", the doctor said after he took the IV drip off Scott's arm, before quickly turning to leave the room.

"Others?", Scott asked Chris as the doctor left. "We've been setting up a perimeter wall around the Baker farm", Chris told him, "so the situation can be contained and cleared. A few people have been attacked by the molded, others have had incidents with building the wall".
