Chapter 21

Scott woke with a start, sitting bolt upright as he breathed deeply. He waited for his pounding heart to calm down before he slowly reached his hand up to the back of his neck. Scott felt the scar under his hairline, he didn't know why that was the first thing he did. It was probably so he knew that it wasn't his mind playing tricks on him.

He couldn't believe that he had found the answer as to why he could see people's memories. But he didn't think his own parents and older brother would have lied to him or been willing to do this to him. Someone groaned in pain next to him, Scott turned to see who it was, to find Lucas laying on his side not far from him. He seemed to be coming back around from what Scott had done.

"You knew" Scott whispered as he looked at his brother anger slowly started to grow inside him. "You knew" Scott hissed at his brother who was still waking up, "you knew! you fucking knew!", Scott shouted as he scrambled over to his brother in rage. He rolled Lucas over onto his back and sat on top of him before he started to punch his brother in anger.

"You knew! you fucking knew! and you never told me", Scott shouted down at him as he hit him in rage. Lucas looked up at Scott in shock at first then tried to protect his face with his arms, Scott didn't care if it was the monster that would hurt him without a care in the world, he was too angry with him to care if he would get severely hurt later when Lucas threw Scott off of him.

"Scott, stop!", Lucas shouted from beneath Scott as he constantly punched him in anger. "You knew!" was the only thing Scott was shouting repeatedly through his anger. Lucas managed to grab Scott's fists to stop him from hitting him, Lucas sat up holding Scott's fists, pushing Scott to sit back on his knees. "Scott calm down, what's wrong?", Lucas asked him with genuine confusion in his eyes.

"You lied to me! mama, dad and you. You guys never told me" Scott hissed at him, Lucas lowered his eyes a little so he wasn't directly staring into Scott's before he looked back up at him and asked, "how did you find out?".

"I saw you! I watched mama and dad tell you", Scott said in frustration,

"How the hell did you watch them tell me?" Lucas asked in confusion, "you were still in the hospital".

"I saw your memory" Scott told him, not caring if he sounded mad to his brother, "you were 15, mama and dad sat with you at the dining table and told you that I will never walk again because of them. Because they allowed some men to put a piece of metal in my head!".

Lucas's eyes lit up with disbelief, "h-how can you-?".

"That thing in my head allows me to do it", Scott snapped at him, "I'm sure of it. Whatever it is turned on when Eveline turned up".

"Scott I'm-", Lucas began,

"Sorry. yeah I know " Scott hissed at him, but not with as much anger as before,  he still had a bit of hate in his words.

"Eveline?" Lucas said almost confused as if he didn't remember, then he shook his head and looked at Scott, "Scott I'm sorry, I know you're angry. But I've always wanted to tell you. I didn't like keeping it from you, but mama and dad made me swear not to say anything. I was going to tell you when you turned 18 I promise I was, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner", Lucas explained to him.

Scott sat back further on his knees and dropped his hands at hearing his brothers words, his anger slowly depleting as he looked into his brother's pain filled eyes. Only now realising this was Lucas he was talking to. His brother and not Eveline's monster. Somehow he had brought him back. Lucas dropped Scott's hands, not scared he was suddenly going to start punching him again. "Scott... mama, dad and I don't know what that thing in your head does, only that they lied to us and put it in your head. I don't know how you've done this but... I can't hear Eveline in my head... but when I could, I knew that whatever is in your head was stopping her from infecting you", Lucas told him.
