Day 85

----------------------------------------------------
=============================

"So, any news about the cargo Mia spoke about?", Scott asked Zoe as he fiddeled with his fork, moving the ready made food around in it's plastic dish.

"We found a small case of that medicine while you were asleep", Zoe said as she was leaning against the counter, "nothing new since yesterday", she sighed.

"Why can't I help you and Mia" Scott asked again, for what had to be the thirtieth time over the past few days.

"You know full well why" Zoe snapped at him, "last time you left this trailer Lucas dragged you away and broke your ribs, then before me and Mia got you to this trailer, you were locked up in a cell like a prisoner of war if you remember. Along with if you piss Evie off, you'll go right back".

"I know mum, you don't need to keep reminding me" Scott sighed defeated, as he stopped playing with his fork altogether, dropping it into the plastic tub on the table as he leaned back in the booth, folding his arms.

Over the past 15 days, Zoe had refused to let him go anywhere near the door of the trailer. She was paranoid, that he would get hurt again if he went to help them look in the house for food. Scott tried to get her to realise she couldn't baby him and that he had to help out somehow, while the two of them were running around in the swamp in the day to find the cargo from the ship that crashed nearby. Mia tried to help him with to convince Zoe to change her mind, but it was in vain, his sister was too stubborn and protective of him to let him go out alone or with either of them.

Scott knew she was scared and just like him, she didn't want to lose someone else to Eveline's control. But taking to locking him in the trailer when they are looking around late at night and using the phones when Mia and Zoe were out in the day was driving him up the wall. Mia understood his frustration and explained - while Zoe was still out one day - that it was her way of being somewhat in control of the situation, even if it meant being overly protective and upsetting him.

She was the most scared when Scott was taken away by either his mother or father to go and 'entertain' Eveline. Where she either tormented him for being what she called weak because of his missing leg and his damaged balance or she made him play his guitar until she became bored and went back to doing, whatever horror children did in their spear time.

Scott also hadn't been able to find a way to talk to either of his parents about his random ability to access other people's memories, when they came and dragged him off to 'entertain their little girl'. Every time he tried, they either ignored him or threatened him with being shoved back into his kennel if he didn't listen and shut up.

'I have to keep trying to talk to them, it's the only shot I've got at understanding what's going on', Scott thought as he just sat and blankly looked at the cabinets behind Zoe's head, as the two had fallen into silence. Zoe quietly mumbled something, which tore Scott out of his thoughts "huh? did you say something, Zoe?".

"You never did tell me what Lucas did to you", Zoe asked,

"Oh... that", Scott said dropping his eyes from his sister and found the floor to be much more interesting, with a heavy heart Scott told her "I don't wanna talk about it".

"What do you mean 'you don't want to talk about it?'", Zoe asked him,

"Exactly that, I don't want to talk about it", Scott repeated,

"Why not" Zoe repeated pushing off of the counter to stand next to the table, "you can talk to me about it, we are all in this together?".

"It's not like I'm talking about a bad dream or something, Zoe" Scott snapped, "it was something way worse...", he whispered more to himself than to Zoe, as he thought about hearing Clyde screaming as the saw gouged out his face.
