Sitting in the dark against the metal door, Scott sat in complete silence, he was blankly staring out into the darkness of the room. He felt completely empty after he finally calmed from his breakdown like his mind and body had finally given up with trying to cope with his messed up life. Scott hated having breakdowns like that, he had them a lot when he was being picked on in school for walking with a crutch, it made him feel stupid and worthless.
Scott didn't know how long he had sat there until he felt something drop onto his head, which brought him back from his empty state. Scott blinked a few times and shook his head to orientate himself and locate the thing that had brought him out of his defeated state. Searching with his hand Scott found a long object lying next to him, holding it in the light of the grate he realised it was an old candle. As he looked up at the candle he saw someone push a lighter through the grate of the door above him.
Scott caught the lighter and shakily got up off the floor, only to realise he had pins and needles in his leg as he got up and his body ached from when Lucas pushed him down the stairs. Looking through the grate he saw Lucas crouching on the floor with a toolbox, a reel of electrical wire and a box with a keypad on it. "I thought you said the door had a lock?", Scott asked, he could hear how truly tired and defeated he felt, as he spoke he felt his voice shake slightly and he sounded defeated to his own ears. He didn't know if he really sounded like that or if it was all in his head.
Lucas looked up at him, "the door does have a lock", he replied with annoyance clear in his voice, "I just happen to create something better that will keep Zoe out".
"Sure", Scott sighed as Lucas turned back to whatever it was he was doing. Scott looked down at the candle and lighter in his hand, using the door to lean back on. Scott took the lighter in his left hand (the candle in his right), he flicked it on and lit the candle, closing the lid of the lighter and shoving it in his pocket, Scott held the candle out in front of him and looked around there was nothing really around him, other than a small cabinet to his left.
Scott could make out a doorway to his left, using his free hand he used the wall to steady himself he made his way to the door. Once Scott made it to the door, he grabbed onto the doorframe and used the candle to look around inside, the candle revealed an incomplete kitchen on the other side of the door. Carefully walking inside, Scott reached out for the sink that was opposite the door, he nearly fell into it but managed to catch himself before he did.
Moving to the edge of the sink, he moved the candle around and saw a table next to the wall on his right, with two chairs tucked under it. Moving the candle to the left he saw a load more darkness with nothing to support himself on and what looked like another room off to his right. 'Guess I'm going that way', Scott thought as he reached out to the table on his right, he made his way to the room. Once he got to the doorway he realised it was a short hallway that leads to another room.
Getting to the end of the hallway Scott used the light to illuminate the room, Scott made out what looked like a bedside table that was dead opposite the hallway and something next to it. Moving closer Scott realised it was a single bed, with unmade covers and a single pillow on the mattress. 'It looks used, was Lucas sleeping here?' Scott thought as he turned his attention to the dresser which had nothing on it. Looking back at the bed Scott moved to it and sat on the edge and held the candle in his hands and just looked at the little flame flickering. He heard something that sounded like electric sparking and swearing from the direction of the locked door and where Lucas was.
Sighing Scott took a deep breath and blew the candle out, surrounding him in darkness. He used his hands to locate the side table and put the candle on it - making sure it wasn't going to roll off. Scott found the covers and pulled them up, putting both of his legs under the covers he laid down on the bed, wrapping himself in the cover he tried to see if he could hear anything in the darkness, but only was greeted with silence and the occasional sound from Lucas. Shutting his eyes Scott let sleep invade his mind to take him to another hellish day.
Day 89
----------------------------------------------------
============================="Get up!", Scott heard someone demand, before he felt a swift kick under the mattrese which made sure he was awake.
Scott sat up instantly after he felt the kick underneath him, he looked up to see Lucas standing above him holding a plate of food. Looking around Scott realised lights where on and he could see clearly now instead of only black surrounding him. Putting his legs on the floor Scott took the plate Lucas was offering him. Lucas grunted as Scott took the plate, looking down at the plate Scott was thankful it wasn't rotting human gut and muscle and was actually a microwaved ready meal with a spoon.
Scott took the spoon and ate it in silence, once he was finished he put it to the side where Lucas snatched it up and walked away without saying anything. Scott sighed and laid back on the bed and faced away from the hallway. Not long after he had done that Lucas kicked the bottom of the bed again, "can you not do that!", Scott snapped as he rolled over to look at his brother who had his sick grin.
"Nah, it's to fun" he replied, "take this" he dropped a plastic shopping bag onto the end of the bed. Scott looked at it sceptically before sitting up and looked inside. "What the-... your actually giving me clean clothes", Scott asked confused as he looked up at Lucas.
Lucas looked at him a little confused and said, "Eveline said I had to look after you, and you stank yesterday, so I picked these up while I was out yesterday".
"Thanks... I guess", Scott muttered as he took the dark green t-shirt out of the bag, it had the price tag on it and also the security tag, 'of course', Scott thought as he put it on the bed. Scott looked at it for a second then looked up for Lucas who was walking away. "Lucas!", Scott called to his brother making him stop, "I need my crutch".
"You don't need it", Lucas replied as he turned to Scott,
"Lucas please I do need it", Scott replied frustration clear in his voice, moving his legs off of the bed yet again. "I can't go anywhere without it and you've got me locked up in here, it's not like I'm going anywhere".
Lucas chuckled darkly, "your weak and without it, it proves that you are too weak to be a part of this family".
"Can you even hear yourself?!", Scott snapped, "can any of you hear what you're saying? You used to be normal, you guys had your own minds! we were a family before that hellspawn of a little girl showed up".
"Now don't talk about Eveline like that", Lucas threatened as he started to make his way back. Scott pushed himself up off the bed and staggered forward, trying to make his way to his brother. "I can say what I want at least I've got my own mind", Scott spat at him.
Lucas looked like he was about to say something, but just as he was about to say something Scott lost his balance and fell to the floor. "Shit!", Scott said as he caught himself with his elbows. "Scott!", Lucas shouted and quickly fell to his knees next to Scott. Scott looked up at his brother wondering why he suddenly cared about him falling down when only moments ago he was saying that Scott not being able to walk showed his weakness.
Scott looked at Lucas's face and thought he looked different, he looked scared like he did every time Scott had fallen. Scott would have thought that the new Lucas would have been laughing at him and saying how he was right about him not being strong enough for Eveline. But this was the old version of him, this was his brother. There was no dought in Scott's mind that he was actually still there, all the slight changes he'd seen, he was there somewhere, his brother was still there.
But before Scott could say anything or do anything, Lucas shook his head in anger and got up off the floor, "weak" he hissed and quickly left him alone on the floor. Scott watched him leave, he couldn't believe what he may have just found out. 'Eveline isn't strong enough to control them all. Mama and Dad, she has control over, but she's not strong enough to control Lucas', Scott couldn't help the smile that came on to his face, that may be being locked up by his older brother won't be as bad as he first thought.
Scott crawled back to the bed and climbed back on it, laying on his back and staring at the unfinished ceiling above his head. 'Lucas is there, he's still freaking there', Scott was smiling like an idiot at the thought his brother could possibly be saved. 'I wonder..', Scott thought as he held his right hand up to look at it, 'whatever this thing is that's up with me, seeing people's memories... maybe I could use this to bring Lucas back. I just got to learn how to use it'.
