Aliyah's POV
I rocked back and forth on the huge bed. After hours of crying my eyes out. How could I have been so stupid? How could I fall for such a trick?
*flashback*
"Excuse me, girl in the scarf." A young Asian woman called out and walked towards me. I smiled at 'girl in the scarf ' , everyone uses that when trying to call a hijabi.
"I need help. I just lost a very precious thing in that dark alley." She said breathlessly.
"What kinda thing?" I asked her pretending to be concerned. At that moment I couldn't think about anything else but Haytham.
"My ring." She answered.
I was about to tell her she could find it during the day but decided against it.
"It's really important. My husband gave me for our anniversary. I don't want to disappoint him." She pleaded. I was confused. Why was she telling me?
"I don't think I can help." I said politely.
"Maybe you can help me with a flashlight or something." She said in shaky voice. I was afraid she was going to cry.
"I uhh...I don't have a flashlight." I said and she started crying. "Don't cry. You will find it."
"I am sorry." She sniffed. "It's just that I feel really bad about it."
"Maybe I can use my phone." I said and led the way into the dark alley. I tried to light the way with the small light from the screen of my phone.
I couldn't see a thing. "Are you sure you dropped it here?" I asked and looked at her. I could see her smirking in the darkness.
"Whatever sweetheart." She said and her voice was suddenly a hissing one. "Richo." She said and pushed me to the ground. That's when I realised she didn't really need help.
"I will take that." A short rugged man grabbed my phone. He came out of nowhere.
"HElP!" I shouted and the lady gestured at me to stop. "HELP!"
"Shut up." Another man said angrily. I looked and assessed the situation. There was three of them and one of me so trying to run won't help.
"HELP!" I shouted again and this time someone actually came, two figures ran toward us. "HELP ME!" I yelled when I saw them approaching.
"Aliyah." I had never felt happier to hear my name being called before. It was Haytham and Hanif. Before I could answer, one of the men grabbed me and covered my mouth with his sweaty hand. I struggled to get away but couldn't.
"Richo run!" Someone shouted and I watched as the woman hit Haytham with a huge metallic rod. I struggled harder, trying to break free. Haytham was hurt. I saw him falling on the floor. Hanif ran toward us trying to reach for me but it was too late. They pushed me into a car and we disappeared in no time. Hanif was still running after the car. I could see him. I tried to scream but instead puked all over the car. The girl who tricked me got it. My inner demon smiled as she cried in disgust.
"Gross!" She said and the men laughed at her. I suddenly felt so angry. I jumped on her and pulled her hair. She screamed in pain. She took out a pocket knife and pointed it at me.
"Yow Rita! Take it easy on the girl." One of the guys said.
"She threw up on me and pulled my hair. Maybe I should give her a scar." She said trying to intimidate me with a small knife. If she knew what I had seen in my life, she would not try that.
"Remember the orders. Not even a hair on her head should be harmed." The other guy said and little Rita dropped it.
I sat quietly and prayed for Haytham. I hoped he wasn't badly hurt. It was all my fault.
*end of flashback*
Seated alone in a house far away from LA. I didn't know exactly where I was but I was sure I was not in LA. That was the longest drive I ever took.
Two days and I still didn't know who had me kidnapped. Rita was the one who brought me food. I had never touched it. She would always tell me that I will starve to death but I ignored her. All I needed was the comfort of my apartment and Isabelle constant bragging. Amina's complaining and Berenice pranking her brother. Most importantly, I wanted to talk to my daddy; my Abu.
