Haytham was holding his plane tickets in his hand. He carried his small bag and got into the elevator. He could barely think. All he wanted to do is get this over with. Just as the elevator was about to close, Hanif pushed himself in. He was panting. He took a minute to catch his breath.
"Sup Bro?" Haytham asked and all Hanif did is stare at him. "Okay, I don't know why you are looking at me like-"
Baam! Haytham could not believe he just got punched. He touched his nose and groaned in pain.
"Okay, what was that for?" He asked through a clenched jaw.
"Where do you think you are going?" Hanif has never been that angry before.
"Home." Haytham said and the elevator stopped. They both got out. Haytham payed the hotel manager.
Haytham didn't want to think of anything, especially not Aliyah.
"A coward!" Hanif said making Haytham stop at the exit. You don't call an Arab a coward and get away with it.
"What did you just call me?" Haytham didn't realize how fast he walked back to Hanif. They were having a staring contest for a few seconds.
"That's exactly what you are, a coward." Hanif said to his face.
"Look Bro, I don't wanna fight with you so don't try me." Haytham finally said and walked out of the hotel.
"So you gonna run, leave Aliyah behind like you did years back?" Hanif was really pushing his buttons. Haytham was really trying to keep calm, he walked faster but Hanif was right behind him.
"Hey, if you are leaving then don't even think of going to see her." Hanif said and walked back to his car. Haytham got suddenly angry. He dropped his bag and ran towards him.
"And what makes you think you can order me around?" He was standing in front of Hanif ready to create chaos.
They stared at each other. Haytham's ocean blue eyes were angry while Hanif's jade green eyes were trying to understand this crazy man.
"I love her and I won't let you hurt her again." Hanif finally spoke up. They were the same heigh and the same size.
Hanif remembered how that morning he overheard Aliyah crying. The way she was telling Isabelle how much she loved him and how much it hurt her. He remembered how unlucky he felt and how his heart broke. He was not letting Haytham leave that easily. He was going to drag him back to Aliyah if he had to.
"Then you should probably let me leave. The more I stay, the harder it gets for both of us." Haytham was determined to go back. "I just have to say goodbye and all will be well."
"I really wanna punch you hard." Hanif said angrily.
"You already punched me." He replied pointing to his nose.
"You are so frustrating, I wonder what Aliyah sees in you." Hanif was tired of all the drama. "You are not leaving Aliyah again and that is final."
"Please Hanif, don't make this harder than it is."
"I will beat you up, break your jaws if I have to. Drag you back to her. I will get you two married. I will put you in a wheelchair if I have to. I will do what you did to Jaffar. And by Allah I have the strength to. And if I have to, I will look for help. I will do whatever it takes to wipe those tears from her eyes forever." Hanif took a deep breath. He meant every single one of those words.
Haytham was confused. Shouldn't he be happy that he was finally out of the picture. They stared at each other for a moment, Hanif was getting really impatient.
