Her Kindness

Levi stared through the open area outside. Even before he and Petra ignored each other, he still can't go through that back door. He knew there was a field, but all he knew was that it felt private.

He didn't feel like trespassing any further. And most especially, he didn't feel like staying here any longer. He noticed how Petra tried to liven up their surroundings, striking up a conversation and to get his attention.

She was still being kind to him despite not talking to each other for long. Until he decided that he was gonna leave by dawn. He had already fixed his clothes. Made the bed more than once, tied loose ends by cleaning every spot.

Petra still doesn't know that he will depart.

And he isn't planning to let her know.

Lately, he has been asking himself what he's doing. And was it helping him or not? He knew what he did would disappoint his friends, but are they there to reprimand him? No.

To him, his friends can do nothing but enjoy the life they have up in the heavens, and to watch over him silently. It's enough for him, surely.

As Levi still stared through the open space, he heard the door open, and his senses came back as Petra entered. She looked at him for a second then gave him a warm smile, heading to her room.

Levi went up to the room he was staying in not long after to check what he had left. But before that, he and Petra shared a glance until they both entered the rooms quietly.

The Ackerman sat by the foot of the bed, bringing out his money bag. He hid it underneath where only he can see it and easy to get. As he opened it, his eyes held the same emotion, but with a hint of content.

Dawn has begun. Levi exhaled, carried a suitcase his uncle provided him. He thought now was the perfect time to leave. Now that Petra was alone in the field, consoling with her parents.

She was at bliss despite the silence between her and Levi. Her positive energy never waiver even from minor problems. She and her co-worker had breakfast together like the usual.

Only, she was the one who tried to strike a conversation between them. But it was a fruitless effort, yet she still provided him what he needed and gave him 100% of her hospitality.

Her eyes were set at the sun that will eventually rise 2 hours from now. The air grew a little cold, which symbolized the weather changing. She had brought out her peach colored shawl and wrapped it around her to keep her warm for the meantime.

Petra clutched her arms under the shawl wrapped around her upper body. Her legs were crossed and with one foot tapping on the grass. The blades grew softer after the rain, but it grew. As well as the tree.

Flowers blossomed from their buds, while the others bloomed in full glory. Revealing the true beauty of its nature. Petra then stood up, an idea in her head. She hunched herself to pick the blue hydrangeas from the soil.

She smiled to herself as it came clear to her what she wanted to do.

Levi planned on getting to the docks where the ferry to another country was. So he had left the shoemakers' shop 5 minutes ago. He wore the cloak he had used to conceal his identity while outside.

In a matter of time, he arrived to the docks. The boat that was going to France was now in line as people held their suitcases. While he put it down. Several horses crossed the other side, which was the pebbled road in the town.

Meanwhile in the shop, Petra had came back with a flower crown. Her eyes went to the counter where Levi wasn't there. She then went up to her father's room and knocked gently. Expecting him to answer instantly, she raised her eyebrows in confusion.

Her hand turned the knob open and the bed was empty. She closed back the door and searched at the backdoor. He wasn't there either. The kitchen, no. She frowned.

At the docks, the people were starting to walk inside the ferry boat. It was big enough for a good number of 200 passengers. He was next in-line when the guard told him to stop.

The guard, sensing suspicion in this man's outfit, he narrowed his eyes. "Remove your cloak." He reluctantly did as he was told, but he only removed the hood.

"Je ne suis pas d'ici, mais un citoyen d'Allemagne. Je suis venu revenir là où j'appartiens," (I am not from here, but a citizen of Germany. I've come to return to where I belong.) Levi spoke.

He may have learned German from his uncle. But he knew that his mother gave birth to him in France. His uncle happened to see him for the first time after finding out his little sister died from illness.

Levi was there in the corner, looking helpless and his eyes lost its light from his mother's death.

The guard stared through his eyes and let him pass. His mother tongue was still useful at times like these. He can say he's more fluent in his mother tongue than his other, which can allow him to speak German here.

He then went on-board the boat when he heard running. The people in line were gasping from the person running, as she bumped through some of them. But she pardoned herself right after and searched the boat if she found him.

Her eyes caught someone with a familiar black hair. The height also helped with her sight and she jumped to the boat instantly, making it sway to the left and right due to the impact.

The people gasped as she ran to Levi.

Her hand found his and he turned to her with a glare.
