HAILEY'S POV

The Great Hall was pretty empty when I arrived, and I didn't see anyone I knew. I sat by myself and grabbed a copy of The Daily Prophet off the table in front of me.

Halfway through an article on the escape of Sirius Black (apparently a dangerous mass murderer who had escaped from Azkaban last year), I was interrupted by the entire bench shaking as it was being filled by students. I put the paper down out of shock as I felt my cheek being kissed. I knew it was Draco when I felt my hand being grabbed under the table. I looked around and saw all Draco's friends, but Pansy stood out with her paler than usual complexion.

"Well I suddenly feel sick," She grumbled and pushed herself out of the seat. I watched her with guilt as she stormed off. Blaise apologized for leaving once again, grabbed a cinnamon bun for each of them and ran after her.

"Okay, so Blaise fancies Pansy?" I asked Draco again as I bit into a green apple, reminding me of the one Draco had given me yesterday.

"... I'm pretty sure," Draco said in a quieter voice so Crabbe and Goyle wouldn't hear. I wonder what changed his mind.

"I think so too." I laughed and felt his arm snake around my waist. I loved knowing that one of his hands was holding mine and one was around me, keeping me next to him.

After breakfast, we walked to class together. He was still holding my hand, even though we were around other people which got me wondering again: what are we? I knew that we couldn't be dating because he hadn't asked me, but did he think we were? Did he think he didn't need to? Should I ask him?

I decided on no and we got to Potions without a word said.

"When can we all work on the project? The sooner the better. Snape doesn't like me much," Dean asked after class as he looked over his shoulder, where Snape was yelling quietly at another student wearing a Ravenclaw uniform. Snape rolled up the piece of parchment in his hands and smacked the head of the student with it. "Or anyone for that matter," Dean asked us as a few minutes after class had started.

"I'm free whenever you are," Draco said to me and smirked, kissing my cheek. I blushed, Dean was right in front of us! He had never done anything like this before, except for that time in front of his friends. That I understood because they're his support, he tells them anything and probably everything, but why in front of Dean? As far as I was concerned, we weren't dating, he's never asked, so his actions had me very confused, especially after most of September and October, where he's been acting strangely. "Actually, I think I have a Quidditch practice after classes tomorrow, so today works." The cute boy mumbled. I smiled a little, just at his voice, letting my complicated thoughts slip away.

"But Quidditch was cancelled, remember?" I reminded him.

"Oh I know, Flint doesn't care. He wants to 'keep us in shape'" Draco rolled his eyes, using air quotes.

"Oh, okay. Well, I obviously have no plans so today works for me too," I added, my small smile still glued to my face.

"Alright then, we'll meet in the library after the rest of our classes" Dean informed us.

I was the first to arrive in the library, and again, saw the girl with bushy brown hair sitting in one corner, and the Durmstrang boy in the other. I threw my backpack onto an empty table with 4 seats and pulled out one of the chairs, gracefully sitting down without my skirt flying, a useful skill I learned in my first year.

"Hailey Blanc?" Someone called and I turned around to see Madam Pince shelving books behind me.

"Hi, Irma! How are you doing today?" I was proud of myself for remembering she wished to be called Irma, rather than Madam Pince.
