Not the End of Us.

The Final

The red Tower, a large old building with bonfires surrounding it, it was covered with windows, but somehow the light inside the building make the tower look red. It didn't have more than 13 floors for sure, and some of them looked completely destroyed; the building was on the power of the red eye, no wonder the name.

Ben stared at it for a moment, thinking somehow about a plan, you could expect the building to be surrounded by skitters or even Mechs, but there was no movement or sound inside. Ben find it odd , but he thought of the possibility of the red eye not expecting Ben at all. The red Eye was so  convinced of his success, maybe he sent every skitter to delay Ben, leaving his tower powerless. There was no time to think or to make a plan, Ben needed to act quickly in order to save Charlotte and to end this war once and for all.

Ben entered to the building, inside it was even more deserted, the whole building was a mess, there was glass and old blood on the floors, along with some old papers and so much dirt. There was also a sticky substance on the  stairs with some plants that have grown inside with the time of the invasion. The substance was making a path upstairs, and it was for sure an alien substance.

Ben took out his small knife, the only weapon he had left after this whole journey, he follow the path, starting going upstairs slowly and every floor was more destroyed and bizarre than the other. He found some pieces of clothes, some more blood on the wall, a mark of someone fighting for his life, he never stopped to look at any room, they were empty and dark and sometimes he could see some old bodies from far, he kept going to the top of the tower where the light was shinning the most.

At the end of the stairs, on the last floor, the red light was brighter somehow, he didn't knew how. The sticky substance was over, and he still found some clothes with blood at the entrance , he kept walking and he found Charlotte's jacket covered with the substance and some blood, he was petrified, and the worst thoughts come to his mind, but he wasn't giving away his hope.

In the corner, covering almost the whole room, was the power of this red light, it was  the source of power, he saw inside some weird creatures swimming in the rare substance of this big jar.  While he was walking to the source he spotted a big cocoon , it was big, the seize of a human body, red and weird connected with the source directly.

He came closer to the Cocoon, and in a small place of it, something like a window to look inside of it, he notice that Charlotte was the one inside that Cocoon.  It seemed like she was inside water, burning water, some bubbles kept appearing on the surface, her eyes were close, and she had some blood on her cheeks, there was no sign of her breathing. Ben put his hand on the small breach, slowly and afraid  and he started calling her name to somehow make her wake up.

-Ben: Charlie?

He looked all around the room, and panic started to took power over him.

-Ben: I'm going to get you out of there, just hold on. Please hold on.

Ben started looking at the surroundings of the cocoon to somehow find something to turn that thing off, but it was pointless; Ben was praying to the stars or to whoever listened to him.   He needed her to hold on, he need Charlotte to be alive.

Immediately Ben started cutting the cocoon with his small knife, he was doing it as fast as he could,  but the thing had many layers, it was for sure protecting the inside. When he could finally reach the last layer of the cocoon, the liquid substance inside of it came down, but Charlie was still there, standing with her eyes closed.

Her body didn't move at all, Ben grabbed her in a hug trying to pull her out of that, placing her head on his shoulder, and he found the thing he was terrified the most. A small alien cable, that looked like an alien body part , was connected to her neck .
