The weekend came and went with the usual drama in Lauren's house. She tried to avoid it as best as she could by playing with her little sister. No way she could concentrate while reading or studying, it was too loud on the house to do so.
When Monday arrived, Lauren made her way to her locker in hopes that she would have a new folded paper but she had no luck with it. "Obvious", she thought. She was one of the firsts students to arrive at school so there was no way the other person would have left two on Friday or had already put one this morning.
The day passed by rather quickly, the classes weren't too bad and she liked the book they had to read in English.
When the classes ended, Lauren made her way to her car and made her way to the mall, hoping to occupy some time so she could avoid being at home for too long.
The next day, at lunch, she finished reading her book. Looking For Alaska was one of her favorites, and Lauren couldn't get enough of it although she was reading it for the millionth time.
Once the lunch break was getting to its end, Lauren made her way to her locker to pick up the necessary books for the afternoon.
She couldn't contain her excitement when a folded paper was inside of it.
I think squirrels really like spaghetti.
There is nothing to suggest this is true,
but I believe they do.
I mean, squirrels, spaghetti, it makes sense.
That being said,
I like you
as much as I think squirrels like spaghetti.Lauren couldn't help but laugh. This was stupid and pointless, but funny nonetheless.
She folded the paper, put it inside her book and made her way to her classroom.
She couldn't stop thinking about this secret person. Lauren never thought someone would notice her in this way since, you know, she was able to go unnoticed for 3 years now.
Also, Lauren was really intrigued about who this person might be. The writing and flattering jokes suggested it was a girl, but if it was a boy she wouldn't mind.
Both genders were fine by her, she had several crushes on both sides but they never went further than that.
Lauren was not really shy, but she didn't really like to socialize with other people unless they had something interesting to add to her life. She liked people who she could talk with about books, movies, art, the stars and etc., she was in no way interested in gossiping or to know other people's lives.
She was fine by herself, but of course, she sometimes felt lonely. She had no one to talk to when she was crying in her room when her parents were fighting again, nor she had someone who held her while she cried when her other little sister died. In fact, no one knew about that because nobody cared enough to ask why she didn't go to class for 3 weeks.
Now that she was thinking about it, she was hoping it was a girl. The boys she knew were insensitive or close to it, a girl would support her more when she needed and was able to understand her better. Yeah, she really hoped it was a girl.
