~Trigger warning for abuse/rape ~

Half an hour later, Lauren felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. When she took it out, she noticed that it was an unknown number but answered it nonetheless. "Hello?".

"Hi, I'm officer Sarah Parker, I believe you were the one who called the police on a violent man on a house some time ago?".

"Yeah, yeah, that's me. I'm Lauren, by the way.", she sat straight on her chair and crossed her fingers, hoping that the woman on the other side of the line would give her some good news.

"Well, said man was arrested but we will need... Camila? Is that right?".

"Yeah, that's her name."

"Thank you. We'll need her to come to the police station to depose if that's okay."

Lauren pondered for a bit, she didn't know how comfortable Camila would be with all of this nor if she was physically cable of. "I, hm, I'm with Camila at the hospital, it seemed that she hit her head and she's being examined now, can we call you later?".

"Yeah sure, we can keep him locked up for 48 hours, if by then we don't have any testimony we'll have to release him."

"Alright, thank you."

They said their goodbyes and Lauren jumped in her seat to get up when she saw the familiar nurse approaching. "Is she okay?, she asked before the nurse even had time to address her.

"Yeah, she's stabilized, it was just a somehow deep cut. She's in the room 171, you can go there if you want.", the woman offered her a smile and left.

Lauren almost ran to the room the nurse had indicated but try to keep it cool when she entered it. Camila was awake but it was obvious that the girl was fighting sleep. "Hey", Lauren greeted, her voice coming out almost as a whisper.

Camila's eyes widened, she was not expecting Lauren to be there at all. "H-hey", she saw Lauren approaching her, "what are you doing here?".

"I wanted to make sure you were okay... are you? Like, physically?". Lauren could hear her voice tremble, her hands shaking. She was so worried that she just wanted to hug Camila and block everything, make everything go way, trap her in a bubble where she couldn't be hurt.

"Yeah, just a little migraine but I'm fine."

Lauren approached the bed a little more and Camila decided to sit up, just when Lauren sat in her bed too. "What ha-happened?", Lauren asked, getting cut in the middle by a sob. She covered her mouth with a hand and tried to calm herself.

Camila was slightly confused because if anyone should be crying it was her, not Lauren. "Why are you crying? Are you okay?".

"No, I feel gui-guilty", Lauren tried to explain, but the sobs were getting worse as she thought about the whole situation. "I abandoned you when you nee-needed."

Camila oh'ed and grabbed Lauren's hand that was not occupied in trying to muffle sobs and wipe tears. "You didn't abandon me because you didn't know."

"Why didn't you told me?", Lauren's sobs subsided a bit and Camila motioned for the girl to join her on her side of the bed, which Lauren did. She climbed onto the bed and sat next to Camila awkwardly, she didn't know how further she could go since they were not a couple anymore.

Camila sensed Lauren's hesitation and pulled the girl by the waist to cuddle at her side. Lauren was confused at first but let Camila wrap an arm around her and dropped an arm around Camila's tummy as well, nuzzling her face in the girl's chest. Camila kissed the top of her head and combed her fingers through Lauren's hair and the girl begun to relax immediately. Lauren almost forgot the conversation they were having. Until Camila spoke. "I'm going to tell you now. It all started the day after my dad woke up from the coma..."
