~Trigger warning for abuse/fight ~

Lauren woke up early that morning. Since she went to bed extra early due to the argument with her mother, Lauren woke up even before the sunrise. Well, that was a first. Knowing that she wouldn't sleep more, she got out of bed and went downstairs to make some toast and prepare some coffee and milk that she took to the porch and sat there eating while watching the sun rise at the end of the road.

After her breakfast was done, she went to her bedroom once again and was almost in shock by how messy her room actually was. There were clothes on her secretary, chair, floor, bed... Everywhere but in the closet. Since she had nothing better to do, Lauren decided that it was time to clean and organize her room, that would occupy her time until it was eventually time to go have lunch with her grandmother.

When she was picking up the clothes that were on the floor at the foot of her bed, a sweatshirt caught her attention along with some fuzzy socks. Lauren already knew that the items belonged to none other than Camila. Although Lauren was still pretty mad at Camila, she missed the girl terribly and saw no harm in the idea she came up with: paying the girl a visit - to give her belongings back, obviously. Lauren looked at the clock on her nightstand and got to the conclusion that she could finish cleaning her room, take a shower, get ready and stop by Camila's house before going to her grandmother's. For as much as Lauren didn't want to admit, she felt the same butterflies in her stomach as when she first met up with Camila at the park.

Camila woke up at 11 am when the sunbeams start illuminating her room through the open blinds. She groaned at the intrusion but soon felt a sweet scent filling her nostrils and the happiness instantly came. She turned to the side but froze when she saw that Lauren, the alleged source of the scent, was not there. Instead, there was a jacket near her pillow and Camila couldn't help but feel disappointed. Her dream with Lauren seemed so real and Camila actually woke up feeling that this whole break up thing was just a nightmare, but of course it wasn't.

Her stomach growled and Camila growled along, she didn't want to get out of bed to eat breakfast and probably having to encounter her dad, but Camila was actually really hungry so she let her stomach win - this time.

Once she was in the kitchen, she poured herself some cereals and sat on the couch watching SpongeBob while she ate, until her dad came in.

"Good morning kid, I need you upstairs in 5 minutes."

Camila clenched her jaw and fists, she was done with this. "No", she said and stood up, placing her bowl on the coffee table.

Her dad looked at her and, laughing, said "What?".

"You heard me.", Camila spat back, not understanding why was the man laughing. "What's so funny?".

"You really think you're in charge?", her dad asked, abandoning his briefcase on one of the couches and taking a few steps in Camila's direction.

Camila swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat and started backing away with each step her dad took in her direction.

"Answer me, do you think you're in charge?", his voice was getting louder and angrier by the second.

Camila never felt so scared in her entire life.

Lauren drove to Camila's house in silence, tapping her fingers on the steering wheel impatiently. Once she was at the door and about to ring the doorbell, she heard a man's voice shouting "come here, you bitch" on the other side, followed by a girl's voice - that Lauren identified as Camila's - saying "please don't!" and then a big thud. Lauren jumped in her spot due to the noise and her feet and hands came to life by themselves, because Lauren found herself storming into the house without even thinking about it. The first thing she saw was Camila on the floor and that was enough for a switch to turn on inside Lauren. She could be mad, but she still loved Camila and wouldn't let anything happen to the girl, not on her watch.

In a matter of seconds after she saw the girl on the ground, she saw a man coming her way down the hall - a man that Lauren recognized as Camila's dad - so Lauren grabbed a vase that was on a shelf nearby and threw it at the man. This gave her a few seconds of advance since the man stopped in his tracks when he felt the vase shatter in his head and face and Lauren grabbed a few books, getting ready for the next attack. She got closer to Camila who was barely conscious and put an arm around her waist to help her get up. Lauren was not able to pull the girl up, she didn't have enough strength due to Camila not being collaborating and the girl basically being a dead weight, so she threw the hardcover books at the men who was now recovering from the first impact. Half of the books that she threw landed on the man's face and side of the head, making him stumble back a bit.

Lauren took the opportunity and took Camila off the floor with two arms around the girl's waist. She nearly gasped when she saw blood covering a part of Camila's head but kept her shit together and started leading them both to the door.

They almost tripped and fell so Lauren placed one of Camila's arms around her neck and one of Lauren's stayed around the girl's waist and, together, bit by bit and still stumbling, thy made their way down the hallway. Lauren stopped before exiting the house to throw a new vase at the man and a mini statue, which was pretty heavy for its size and it landed right on the man's nose who instantly fell to the ground and held his nose when he saw that it was covered in blood.

Before leaving, Lauren grabbed a pair of keys from the small table next to her and then closed the door of the house behind her, locking it and leaving the keys in the door lock so the man wouldn't be able to leave the house.

Camila would have fell face first on the floor when she tripped on the stairs of the porch if Lauren wouldn't have tightened her grip on the girl's waist and pulled her back up. Painfully slowly, they made their way to Lauren's car who sat Camila on the passager's seat, buckled up her seatbelt and went to the driver's one.

While Lauren started the car and sped off down the road, she grabbed her phone and, cautiously, dialed 911 and reported what she saw on Camila's house, finishing with giving the woman on the other side of the line Camila's address and telling her that the man was probably still inside. During the call, Lauren took a few glanced at Camila who had her head back on the seat and was constantly closing her eyes. Each time it happened, Lauren asked her to maintain her eyes open because that way she knew that Camila hasn't passed out. A little after the call ended, Lauren parked the car on the emergency building and led Camila inside. A nurse came quickly to them, helping Lauren transport Camila into a nearby stretcher and asking several questions like what had happened and how Camila had the wound on her head. Lauren answered at what she knew and followed the nurse and Camila until the woman said that she would have to take Camila to do some exams but that they would be back soon. Lauren sat in the waiting room near the exam sector.

Lauren took her phone out of her pocket, pressed 'call' on her grandmother's contact and explained that, once again, she was in a hospital's waiting room because of Camila.
