Lauren sat on the grass of Toby's backyard, pulling Camila with her so the girl would sit on her lap.

Everybody had left already, it was 4 in the morning but Lauren never felt more awake. Toby and Danielle were finishing cleaning up something in the kitchen and told the other couple to wait on the backyard, and it was what Lauren and Camila did.

Lauren was a drunken mess, but Camila was not far behind. The differences were exterior: Lauren's speech was more dragged and her balance was terrible, while Camila could speak almost properly and walk by herself. Lauren was actually enjoying being drunk, it was nice to feel so lightheaded and carefree without a single worry. But what she liked the best about being drunk, was that Camila was drunk too.

Throughout the night, after the countdown, Camila and Lauren spent their time dancing with one another. So to speak because they spent half the time kissing and the other it was Lauren basically grinding on Camila. Yeah, that happened.

Back to the backyard, Lauren looked drunkenly at her girlfriend who was staring at the sky.

"Look at the stars though, they're so pretty!", Camila stated like a happy kid.

Lauren didn't take her eyes out of her girlfriend. "Yes, so beautiful."

Camila turned her head to Lauren and caught her staring. "Did you even look at the stars?".

"Nop."

Camila let out a happy sigh and nuzzled her head on the crook of Lauren's neck. They stayed still and silent for a couple of minutes, the only noise that they could hear was Toby and Danielle cleaning up. Lauren stretched her arm to grab a bean bag that was nearby and placed behind her, laying back and resting her head on it. Camila followed the lead and cuddled up to Lauren's side. Her gaze fell on the charm bracelet that Lauren had on, the one that Camila and Hannah had too. Camila began to mindlessly play with the charm, unaware of how Lauren was looking at her.

The whole night had been a success, from the alcohol to the dancing, from when Camila was a jealous mess to when Camila was a cute mess, from when she was turned on as hell, to when she was crying with happiness by sharing the last kiss of the year with Camila and the first one as well. Lauren had spent most of her night just looking at her girlfriend, whether she was dancing or talking with someone, she always had an eye on Camila and that happened for two reasons: 1) because Camila looked hot as fuck and 2) because she was worried. Camila still hadn't recovered much since the first appointment with Dr. Franklin and Lauren was worried that Camila could freak out in the middle of that many people, which, fortunately, didn't happen.

Lauren used her free hand to comb Camila's hair with her fingers, enjoying the light wind and the silence and letting herself relax. "I love you the way a drowning man loves air.", she said softly, smiling at Camila who looked up at Lauren when she heard her speak.

"Are you seriously quoting Rae Carson right now?", Camila asked, playfully raising an eyebrow at Lauren.

"Damn, you have to stop borrowing my books!"

Camila laughed at how serious Lauren sounded but it was, indeed, true. Camila had probably read already half of Lauren's collection. "Let's do something then, you'll quote something from the books you've read and I'll stop borrowing your books if I don't recognize one."

"Alright smart pants, let's do this!", Lauren agreed. She had a document on her laptop with a couple of quotes so it wouldn't be difficult at all for her to remember a couple of them. "'It's one thing to fall in love. It's another to feel someone else fall in love with you, and to feel a responsibility towards that love.'"

Camila took a couple of seconds to try and remember the author but came out empty handed. "I don't remember who wrote that,", she said, receiving a huge smile from Lauren who was thinking that she had already won at the first try, "but I know that that's from Every Day."

Damn, Lauren thought. She began to think of a harder one but wanted to be fair so she was just trying to remember quotes from books that she owned. "Alright, how about this one: 'I never loved you any more than I do, right this second. And I'll never love you any less than I do, right this second.'?"

"Easy, Beautiful Creatures.", Camila answered happily.

"Fuck, alright, let me think of another one.". Lauren took a few moments to try to remember a quote from those books that she thought that Camila wouldn't notice that it was there. "Alright, I have one. 'I knew the second I met you that there was something about you I needed. Turns out it wasn't something about you at all. It was just you.'"

"Are you confessing your love for me or are you trying to win this?", Camila asked, amused by how Lauren's quotes were all about love and finding cute how Camila could relate to them.

"Can't I do both?", Lauren answered, winking once at her girlfriend.

Camila chuckled, "You could, but for that you'll have to find a quote that I don't know because that's from Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire."

"Damn it, I quit, you were going to continue to read my books anyway."

Camila just smiled at Lauren and stared at the girl's eyes. Camila was always one of being uncomfortable when looking at someone's eyes but her girlfriend had something captivating in them, something that made Camila feel comfortable. She was so lost in them that didn't even notice that both girls were leaning in, it was only when she saw her favorite pair of eyes being covered by Lauren's eyelids that she noticed it. She went along with it and soon felt the familiar warm lips on hers, the lips that she had been craving every second that they were not in touch with hers. Could it be possible to be addicted to something as someone's lips? As someone's taste? As someone's skin? As someone's touch? Because Camila felt addicted to those things in Lauren, she absolutely craved those things and that was driving her crazy.

As their lips entered in a slow and passionate dance, Lauren's mind couldn't focus on anything else besides that kiss, the alcohol didn't provide her enough strength to think of anything else, much the contrary actually. Camila was everything that mattered in that moment and Lauren just couldn't have enough of the girl. She tightened her grip on Camila's waist, to then travel her hands further down until she reached the girl's ass where she squeezed harshly. She felt Camila's hand tangling in her hair, slowly scratching her neck up and down. Lauren was so into the moment that she completely missed the low moan that she released, she only actually understood what she had done when she felt Camila smile into the kiss and broke it seconds after.

Camila kissed Lauren's jawline until her ear and whispered, "I see you can't behave in public, I'm just waiting to see what you're going to do when we get home.".

Lauren could feel Camila's smirk against her skin while the girl left wet kisses down her neck. She felt the God damn arousal come back all over again, full force this time, so she tightened her grip on Camila's ass and tried not to release another embarrassing moan just with Camila's kisses. Luckily, because otherwise, Lauren wouldn't be able to control herself anymore, Toby and Danielle interrupted them.

"Yo, find a bedroom, girls!", Toby said, placing a hand over Danielle's eyes so the girl wouldn't see, just like if she was a child.

Lauren broke the kiss and her hand immediately left Camila's ass. She covered her face in embarrassment for having been caught in that position but worse than that was when she heard Camila whisper seductively in her ear, "To be continued."
