"Camila?"
Camila just hummed in response, her gaze first on Lauren's eyes, to then lower it to the girl's lips and next to her eyes again.
Oh god. Lauren begun to back away due to being afraid, scared. But even though she was all of that, she felt that this needed to be said in order to progress. If this was going to progress.
"I kinda, hm... like you", Lauren managed to say - not how she wanted, but at least she said it. The shyness and embarrassment due to the confession were so much that Lauren didn't even look at Camila, so she obviously missed the wide smile that Camila had after the sentence was said.
Lauren only looked at Camila when she heard her say "I kinda, hm... like you too", obviously mocking Lauren for her stuttering. Lauren looked up at the girl with wide eyes full of hope, hope of having heard right. Her suspicions were confirmed when Camila continued, "I like you, not since yesterday nor since five weeks ago, I like you since the first time you helped me in the second day of school, 3 years ago."
Lauren felt like they could continue the confessions a little bit later, right now she wanted to kiss the living hell out of the beautiful girl that was in front of her telling her that she liked Lauren back. And so she did, she leaned in a bit and Camila got the message, so their lips met halfway, moving slowly against each other. Lauren was surprised when she felt Camila trace her bottom lip with her tongue, silently asking for entrance which Lauren reluctantly gave. Not that she didn't want it, because she did, but since she was basically new in those things she didn't want to fuck everything up, but still gave Camila what she asked for because she knew she couldn't hide forever and had to take this step for herself sooner or later.
Camila moved from Lauren's side to stay with one knee on each side of Lauren's thighs, wrapping her arms around the girl's neck, said girl that now was gripping on Camila's waist, pulling her as close as possible.
When Camila felt that the lack of oxygen was becoming a problem, she disconnected their lips and slowly moved her own through Lauren's jaw and then down her neck, giving her slow little kisses to then nuzzle her face in the crook of it and hug Lauren tight.
Lauren wrapped her arms around the other girl's waist and hugged her back, but after a few seconds she felt her neck becoming wet leaving her two reasons for it: or she was sweating as hell or Camila was crying. The last one seemed more plausible since it was not that warm that day.
"You okay?", she asked, combing Camila's hair with her fingers. Camila only nodded in response, but Lauren was now sure that Camila was crying since the girl had sniffled a couple of times. "Camila, why are you crying?"
"I'm just so happy. "
Lauren couldn't help but giggle softly, "I'm happy too".

Friday came and Lauren was not excited by that at all. On the day before, she spent every break with Camila and the girls even spent the afternoon and went to pick up Hannah at school together. Lauren was so fond of Camila's company that she was wishing that it was school day every day since the girls wouldn't be together on the weekend due to Camila being working on Saturday and have a cousin's birthday on Sunday.
So Lauren planned on spending as much time as she should with Camila that day, including inviting the girl over for dinner.
She woke up that morning at the usual time, not needing to pick up Camila that day. She turned off her alarm and went to the room next door to wake up her sister. After the two girls were dressed, they went downstairs to eat breakfast.
Lauren had to control herself to not roll her eyes when she saw her father in the kitchen, with a cup of coffee in front of him while he read the newspaper. It was the first time that she saw the said man in a couple of days, since he seemed to be working more hours at night and, when he wasn't, he was getting wasted. Lauren tried to not to think much about this situation, she had a little sister to take care of now and she couldn't let the child know that both of their parents had basically given up on them. She blocked everything parents-related and focused solely on 3 things: school, Hannah, and Camila, the 3 most important things in her life in that moment.
After preparing two bowls of cereal, the sisters sat on the couch watching cartoons while enjoying their breakfast. Lauren took the opportunity to check her phone and couldn't avoid the smile when she saw she had a text from Camila.
You remind me of a rainbow.
You're bright, somewhat mysterious,
and just so perfect in so many ways.
And you don't even know it.Lauren was pretty sure that time would pass by and she would never get used to these things Camila comes up with. How could someone not be happy when they have a beautiful girl saying these beautiful things by their side? With all of this, Lauren was grateful Camila was the sunshine rays after the storm that was her life lately, she was an escape from the filthy reality and Lauren never wanted to come back from it ever again.
After dropping Hannah at her school, Lauren went to her own only to find Camila already waiting for her, sat in front of their tree. Their, because Lauren insisted for Camila to join her there whenever they had time and for lunch breaks, and when the bad weather came, they could eat in Camila's car. Cafeterias? Nah. Why would they use them when they had trees and cars?
She sat down next to Camila and didn't even had time to greet her, because Camila was quick in greeting Lauren with a kiss, finishing with little pecks in the end.
"What was that about?", Lauren asked while a hint of a smirk appeared on her face.
"I just missed you.", Camila answered while putting a strand of hair behind her ear, shyly.
Lauren was taken aback by this. She was still not used to Camila being straightforward. Although Camila was, indeed, still shy around her, she had begun to say these kinds of things more regularly. Lauren was proud, it meant that she was getting comfortable.
"I missed you too."

Spending time with Camila was the best thing in the world, Lauren concluded when they were both on her couch, watching a movie. Camila managed to say the dumbest and dorkiest things ever and make Lauren laugh, especially when she most needed. If Lauren was head over heels with only the notes, now that she truly met Camila it only got worse.
Lauren caught herself staring at Camila multiple times during the day, but luckily Camila hadn't caught onto it. Lauren didn't know why, but she found the other girl so endearing and captivating that her eyes never wanted to divert themselves from Camila.
By luck or faith, Lauren ended up with Camila in her arms, and she would make sure that they stayed like that. As if completing her almost-metaphor, she increased her grip on Camila's body, who was sat beside Lauren, head on her chest, arms around her waist, while Lauren enveloped Camila in a comforting hug.
Lauren was paying no attention to the movie, so much that she didn't even notice that the final credits had already appeared. She shifted a bit in her seat and looked down at the girl in her arms, but since she couldn't see her face before, was confused when she saw Camila sound asleep. Even with her mouth a bit open, with hair covering half of her face and her make up a little messy, she was the most beautiful girl that Lauren had ever seen in her 18 years of existence.
Grabbing her phone from the arm of the couch, she saw that it was time to pick up Hannah from school. Camila looked so peaceful sleeping that she didn't want to wake her up, so she managed to get Camila off of her and lay her on the rest of the couch so Lauren could get up. She grabbed a random piece of paper and a pen and wrote a note for Camila.
I had to pick up Hannah, I'll be back before you notice my absence. I didn't wake you up because it wasn't necessary to bother your beauty sleep and I admit: you were so beautiful sleeping that I was selfish enough to not to wake you up so I could admire that beauty a bit more when I get home.
Don't miss me too much,
Lauren
Chessy much? Lauren couldn't care less, she was in love.

A/N: Hey little fellas, I want to apologize for not updating yesterday but it was definitely not a good day and I just wanted to curl up in a ball and sleep. As an apology gift, I'm updating now and I'll try to update twice tomorrow (or maybe twice on Friday, it'll depend on whether or not I got much to do in classes).
Last but not least, I want to make a question: from where are you, dear reader? Let me know from where my pretty readers are.
Be nice and don't kill anyone today.
