Archie's POV

Tonight is the dance and I'm freaking out. I wrote Jughead's song in an hour, my dad thinks its great but I'm not so sure it's 'i'm confessing my undying adoration towards you' kind of great. But, there's no turning back now.

"Archie, Veronica and Betty are here to take you to the dance," my dad Fred called from downstairs.

"Coming!" I yelled gabbing my guitar case before meeting my friends outside.

"Archie, looking very dapper. I'm sure Jughead will think so," Betty said making the emoji face she's been sending us for the past week.

"Thanks Betts, I'm so nervous," I said feeling my palms sweat on the handles of my case.

"You'll be fine Archie, trust us," Ronnie said as we pulled up in front of the school seeing everyone getting out of their cars with their dates. I spotted Reggie with Jason, wearing matching pink ties.

And Cheryl with Josie?

"Is that Josie with Cheryl?" Ronnie asked as we walked inside. The gym was decorated with blue and yellow streamers, and the DJ was Kevin's date who's name I can't remember.

"Is that the secret Jason was talking about?"

Before I could react to Betty's question, I spotted Jughead sitting at a table alone drinking punch. He looked amazing, and of course he was wearing his signature crown beanie.

"Archie! Are you ready?"

I was broken out of my trance by Josie, "Uh yeah, I am,"

"Great, I'll let you know when its time," with that she left and I saw Betty and Veronica walking towards the dance floor.

I thought 'fuck it' and went over to Jughead.

"Hey Juggie, mind if I sit?"

He looked up at me, and shrugged. "If you want,"

Of course I wanted to, "So, no date?" I asked. Stupid question Andrews.

"No, I'm not exactly the date type. Or the school dance type, but Betty dragged me here for a reason she wont even tell me about. But, she promised me burgers at Pop's after so here I am," he said and I laughed. Jughead would do anything for free food.

"Well, I'm glad your here Juggie," I said and he just smirked at me and before I could say anything else Josie was waving me over.

Shit, I'm not ready.

"You singing tonight?" Jughead asked.

"Yeah, but I don't know if I can. I just-

Before I could say anything Jughead grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

"You can do it Arch, I believe in you,"

I nodded and went over to Josie.

"You ready Andrews?"

I looked at Jughead from the stage who gave me a thumbs up. "Ready as I'll ever be"
