Not-So-Friendly Rivalries

Ryuuto's squad was waiting  by the walls for you and Guren.  

All of you were currently assigned a mission... together.

And since Guren is the highest rank, he was put in charge. Even of Ryuuto's squad and Ryuuto himself. The two continued to talk to each other over the plans for the mission. Kai and Shouta were busy talking about who-knows-what.

This left you with the twins, Yuri and Sakura.

You noticed that one of the twins would blush whenever she looked at Guren. 

"Hey." You spoke up so that only the twins could hear you. "Have you ever tried doing something so that people could distinguish you from each other?"

Both of them looked at you quizzically. Until, finally, one of them spoke up. "Like, do something different with our hair?"

You nodded.

You realized you had a hair-tie around your wrist. Convenient, right? But, to your dismay, when you offered it, the one who had been blushing at Guren took it.

She put her hair in a pony tail. Then she turned to you. "I'm Sakura. Now you can remember because my hair will be tied up."

You nodded once more.

"Alright. We will just be patrolling, however, it seems that there have been some dangerous nobles around lately. Then again, we might not run into anything. It'll be easier to just hot-wire a car." Guren's voice caught everyone's attention.

Once he made sure he had everyone's attention, he made the call to move out.

The whole time everyone was walking, you would notice Sakura glance towards Guren. This made your blood boil. You picked up a random stick in the road so that you could squeeze it to relinquish your anger.

Finally, you found some cars. They were cars that would belong to the army too. And, they didn't have tops on them, which would make it easier to get in and out of.

"There're two cars. I say we split up, cover more ground. Then, afterwards, we just head back separately." Everyone nodded at Guren's words.

"I'm with Guren!" Shouted Sakura instantly clinging to his arm. The stick that you were holding instantly broke between your fingers.

"It's smarter to keep the twins together because their abilities only work together. I say we have (Y/N), Guren, and Kai in one car and the rest in the other one." Ryuuto stepped in. When you looked at him, he winked. You rolled your eyes. 

"Awww. I wanted to ride with Guren..." Said Sakura.

The people with Ryuuto went ahead to their car and started off. Kai went ahead and hopped in the back seat of the other car.

"Good thing these weren't too hard to hot wire." Said Kai. You nodded. "Yeah. I want to get this over with and go back as soon as possible."

You went ahead and got in the passenger seat, and Guren got in the driver seat.

Needless to say, the car ride was pretty boring. Nobody was talking because they were busy looking for vampires.

After a while, Kai stood up from his seat in the car. You and Guren both looked where he was looking and spotted a noble.

"I got this one." He said.

"The walls aren't that far from here. Go ahead and head back when your done. There aren't that many vampires anyway. You can say the same thing to the others if you find them." Said Guren. Which, he was right. There weren't very many vampires at all.

"Right." Said Kai. And with that, you and Guren moved on.

After that, it was just like before. Both of you were silent. Yet, there was not a vampire in sight.

"Hey." Guren spoke up, which startled you because it had been quiet for so long. "You were jealous of Sakura back then, weren't you?" 

Guren's words caught you off guard. "NO! I wasn't! That's not possible! Why would I be jealous?!"

Guren started to laugh at your little outrage.

"What is it?" You asked.

"Nothing-Haha- I just thought that I was the only one getting jealous today." You looked at him confusedly.

Guren brought the car to a complete stop. "Oh come on! Did you see how Ryuuto was looking at you? I swear, I was going to kill him." Your heart started beating really fast after Guren said this.

You looked down to the floor of the car. "... Stop it..." Your words caught Guren's attention.

"Stop what?" He asked.

"You... You keep doing weird things to my heart..." Guren started smiling again at your words.

He started the car again and draped an arm around your shoulder. "(Y/N), that's what you call love."

You started giggling. He looked at you once more. "What?" He asked.

"That sounded so sappy!" You couldn't control your laughter anymore.

"Hey. (Y/N). Stop. Okay, seriously. I'll stop this car!" Guren quickly found himself laughing as well.

That was basically your whole ride home.

When you both got out of the car, Guren finally said:

"Seriously though, it might sound sappy, but it's true. I know because you do the same thing to my heart as well."

Happy Mother's Day! Sorry if updates have been a little slow, but, no need to fear, I only have a week-and-a-half of school left until summer! Again, I am sorry about any slow updates, my internet kind of sucks a lot!
