Chapter 44: The Request

Kate's POV

"Miss Kate?" I heard Janna said through the intercom. Inilapag ko naman ang mga documents na nirereview ko while answering her with a "Yes?"

"Mr. Nathaniel Alcantara is already here." Oo nga pala, I asked Nate if he can drop by here for some clarifications.

"Let him in." I shortly replied at sumandal na sa sandalan ng swivel chair ko. Hindi rin naman nagtagal at pumasok na din si Nate.

"Hey Kate." I immediately stood up and gave him a brief hug as my greeting. He lightly kissed my cheek. We're close friends anyway, so walang malisya 'yon.

Nauna na akong maglakad papunta sa may couch sa mini sala dito sa office ko. Hindi naman kasi pure business ang pag-uusapan namin eh.

"Why did you ask me to drop by here? Is it about the on-going construction of your boutique?" he immediately asked pagkaupong-pagkaupo palang niya sa couch sa harap ko.

"Since I know you're busy, I would get straight to the point then. It's actually about the construction on the other half of this floor." Kasi naman, this whole floor is my office. Then the reception, as well as my secretary's table is located at the middle portion, near the elevator. And I was wondering kung bakit closed ang kalahati, meaning, a construction or renovation or something else is on-going in there.

"Oh, about that. Hindi mo pa nakakausap si Tito?" he's referring to my Dad. Si Dad naman daw kasi ang nag-utos doon, so no need na for my permission since the company is still under his name. we talked about it a little, but Dad did not go into details.

"I did. But he was busy that time, so he told me to ask you since ikaw naman daw 'yung may hawak nung project." Tumango-tango pa siya at nag-isip saglit. That's when I remembered that I haven't offered him a drink yet.

"Anyway, sorry I forgot to ask you if you'd like coffee, tea, juice, water, or something?"

Umiling lang siya at ngumiti. "Nah, I'm good. I just came from a lunch meeting with Kian." Tumango nalang ako and waited for his answer doon sa naunang tanong ko.

I heard him sigh at sumandal sa couch.

"About your question, Tito said he would like to extend your office. You see, we even closed your own room, powder room, library, and pantry. He asked for a slight renovation so that he could stay here longer if he and Tita visits. I mean, he would like us to put another table and stuffs so that he and Tita could get to share this office." Napangiti naman ako doon. Aww. My Dad is so sweet. He even wants to renovate my office so that the three of us could share sometimes.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?" and he looked at his wrist watch. Umiling naman ako since 'yun lang naman talaga ang kailangan ko from him.

"I can see you still have some business to do. That would be all, really. Thanks for your time." pagkatapos kong sabihin iyon ay tumayo na ako. Ganun din naman siya.

He smiled and said, "Basta ikaw." At ginulo-gulo pa ang buhok ko.

"Yaah! Nate!" I hissed pero tumawa lang siya at naglakad na papunta sa door ng office ko. Inaayos ko pa ang buhok ko nang marinig ko siyang nagsabi na, "I have to go. Take care." And then he closed the door.

I walked back to my table nang bumukas ulit ang door. Nakatalikod ako dito since naglalakad pa nga ako pero hindi ko na nilingon, thinking it's Nate. Maybe he just left something.

I froze when I felt someone hugged me from my back. But I immediately relaxed when I smelled his scent. It's my husband. And I can't help but smile. That sounds so great.
