BE IT UNTO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD (Luke 1:38)
I honor Mary, the mother of Jesus more than any faithfuls ahead of me. Blessed is she among women.. I just don't pray to her. For honoring and praying are two different things.
For when the Lord God handed me my mission, I was terrified. I even rejected it once for I questioned my worth. How come the God of Israel favored me with the gifts of His Spirit and allowed me to see more than what the naked eyes could see, receive wisdom and instruction that no man hear? Why me? I believed there are other people more righteous than I am. I did not know a lot of things about faith. I just didn't feel worthy. The inequities in me mocked me and ridiculed me.
But at that time God reminded me of one thing that made me accept the mission even when I didn't know what lies ahead or what I was suppose to do. MARY'S OBEDIENCE. She too was terrified when the angel Gabriel came to her and announced the coming of the Savior. A virgin, young, unmarried. She knew that she could be judged by others. But even in her fear, she submitted to the will of the Lord. An admirable trait. TO OBEY WITHOUT QUESTION AND PUTTING GOD'S WILL BEFORE HER OWN. It was her OBEDIENCE that paved the way to salvation. More than her virginity. How I long that she be called "Obedient Mary" more instead. Blessed she is that the God of All chose her for that purpose. She became the vessel of the Savior. And so like Mary, in my heart I accepted and trust that the God of all will equip me of what I need to carry out the things that He wanted me to do.
Mary was a vessel. All of us are vessels of God's purpose. All of us are called to holiness like Mary and all the other faithfuls before us. To allow God to work through us. But apart from Him, we cannot do anything. Who is Mary without the fullness of God's grace? Nothing. It is in our obedience and trust that the Lord's will be done on earth according to the purpose that He has for each one of us. For it is not who we are and what we have done that made us worthy of God's love but ALL IN HIS GRACE. To be forgiven and blessed. The same grace that took the criminal hanging beside Jesus, a man who didn't undergo baptism nor confession be promised to be taken to paradise. We can never question God's grace for it is not ours to give. All we can do is be thankful every time.
When Mary died, even if I doubt the truthfulness of her being assumed to heaven and never heard about her resurrection, I would happily accept if she was indeed. For to me, she is worth the honor and it is in the inspiration of her obedience that I am able to say yes without hesitation and question to whatever and wherever God leads me. But then it is written:
"2 Everything is the same for EVERYONE: There is one fate for the righteous and the wicked, for the good and the bad, for the clean and the unclean, for the one who sacrifices and the one who does not sacrifice. As it is for the good, so also it is for the sinner; as it is for the one who takes an oath, so also for the one who fears an oath. 3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: there is one fate for everyone. In addition, the hearts of people are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live; after that they go to the dead. 4 But there is hope for whoever is joined with all the living, since a live dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know that they will die, but THE DEAD DON'T KNOW ANYTHING. There is no longer a reward for them because the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Their love, their hate, and their envy have already disappeared, and there is no longer a portion for them in all that is done under the sun. " Ecclesiastes 9:2-6
It is by Mary's example that I have come this far in following the leading of the Spirit of God. I found strength in her example knowing that my sacrifice could pave way to something greater in God's plans. Even when I am persecuted and called insulting names. How then shall I give thanks and honor to this beautiful lady of faith deserving of great honor? How else but by following her example. TO OBEY WITHOUT QUESTION. To live and trust God just like her that someday I will become an additional jewel to her crown of righteousness that God has prepared for us according to what we deserve, and to live as holy as her and as faithful as her. This is my hope and prayer.
And in my prayer, let Jesus be my ONLY MEDIATOR that I may follow what has been written in 1 Timothy 2:2-6
"2 First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, 2 for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time."
I am deeply saddened when I am misunderstood and judged without fully understanding the journey that I am taking and the season that I am in. I sometimes seek that I be allowed to believe the way I understand things at the present until I my heart and my spirit accept a truthful and Godly disprove. Then again I realize that in the end, it will be between me and My GOD and Jesus is my Judge.
May the good Lord bless and keep us all.
