I threw my pillow at Xander and laughed with everyone else. "That was a secret!" I said playfully and he just smiled. So our car broke down in the middle of the woods but luckily we had stopped by our houses and grabbed some blankets, pillows, junk food, and a camping tent. "Shawna I have a question!" Danielle said and Shawna nodded. "Why haven't they kicked you out of school yet? I mean your belly is getting pretty big." Danielle pouted a little.
"Do you want me to leave?! Ouch!" Danielle's eyes widened and she quickly shook her head. "I'm joking, my mom donated lots of money and hired people to make sure I won't be hurt during school." Shawna said with a small shrug. Xander rubbed his hand over her stomach. "It's amazing how a female can have another human body grow inside of them. The pain though, how do you girls do it?" Marcus asked while looking at Shawna's tummy. "Giving birth is the most painful yet beautiful thing in the world, you want to know a story about my real mom?" Danielle asked and we all nodded.
"As you four may know, my birthday is November 20, the same day my mom didn't survive." My hand instantly moved to her shoulder and I rubbed it softly. "Which is why I didn't like to celebrate my birthday. So my Dad told me that they were in college, but in the middle of graduation I was born. My mom had just received her diploma and fell on the stage screaming in pain. Men quickly got her off the stage and layed her on the floor. They called an ambulance and she arrived. She tried, so hard to let me live. The pain was too much for her body. My dad said he heard her yelling from inside the room. She was saying that she couldn't do it, that she was in pain." She paused and wiped a tear. "So the doctor told her that if she gave up not only would I die, but she could too. After hearing that it was as if she regained strength. I was alive and they bathed me and let my mom hold me. She fed me once, kissed my forehead and said she would always be by my side and that she loved me. She hugged me then placed me softly against her and she was gone. She was dead. I began getting flash backs of then, but I only remember part of her face and her soft voice and those ten words, 'I will always be by your side, I love you.' Since the day I found out, I hated my birthday." She finished and we all hugged her.
"Enough about me though, what are you going to do for college?" Danielle asked Shawna and she smiled a little. "Online classes, while Xander goes to actual college." She sad and Xander nodded. "What about money?" I asked them and they smiled. "Work, I found a small diner and I already signed up, they pay me enough for the house stuff and college." He said and we nodded. "Well I'm off as soon as we leave highschool. I found a cute apartment, college is really near too." I said and they all nodded. Being seventeen, feels good but weird. I feel closer to freedom but I don't want to grow. I turned seventeen last July, that month is coming up and I'm 18! A legal adult. Crap.
"Yup! Kinda scared though, what if I trip going up the stage?" Danielle asked and everyone laughed bringing me out of me thoughts. I looked at my friends, more like family. I'm so blessed, I guess someone up there likes me.
