There was a lady who lived alone in her tiny home. She had lived there for years and didn't plan on leaving. She enjoyed the peace and quiet of being alone.
The only passion the woman had was her jewelry. She had been collecting beautiful jewels ever since she was a young girl. She would spend thousands of dollars on her jewelry and nothing else. She would even have trouble paying for her house at times and would often forget to feed herself.
One night as the woman was sleeping, she heard loud scratching on the walls. She lifted her head and turned on the lamp, but she didn't see a thing. She sighed, and then fell back asleep, thinking nothing of it.
The next morning, the woman looked through one of her many boxes of jewelry. She cleaned off her jewelry every day. It was an obsession.
She frowned, noticing that a couple of her prized jewels were gone. She was absolutely certain that they were there the night before. She checked them every single day, after all.
She searched everywhere but found no jewels. Frustrated, she slammed her jewelry box and stormed off. As she did this, she heard the faint scratching again. It was quieter then it was during the night.
"Damn rattatas..." she grunted.
As she slept that night, the scratching got louder and louder. She screamed, hoping to scare away whatever was causing that sound, but it only worked for a couple of seconds until it started up again.
"I'm setting up a trap tomorrow...I can't deal with this," she mumbled as she forcefully covered her ears with the pillow.
She was about to snap before the scratching had finally come to a fault. She sighed in relief, before drifting back to sleep. She finally felt calm.
Her hands then clutched tightly. Her eyes widened, and her neck felt hot and compressed. She gasped for air, but only blood filled her lungs. She stared up into the sparkling eyes of a sableye. It tugged at the necklace around her neck, taking her skin with it. The sableye grinned widely as it took the precious jewel off her neck. Everything turned white as she stared into the eyes of something that desired jewels more then she did.
