There was once a little metapod that was set free when it's owner didn't want it anymore. All it wanted was to evolve. The metapod struggled to keeps its innards from spilling out, but it was always a struggle. It remained still as it waited for a trainer to level it up so it could evolve. It wanted to move freely, but it was stuck frozen in fear. One small move could result in death. Even as the years went by, it remained in the same spot. It waits and waits.
