There was a widow who lived alone in a small house. Her and her husband use to share share the house, but he had mysteriously died years ago. She now sat in her house alone. Young trainers never even entered her house. There was something off about her that no one could explain.
She sat alone playing with her old wedding ring. She rocked back and fourth in her chair. It had been years since he had passed away, but the ring remained on her finger. She heard a vase break from behind her, but she didn't bother turning her head.
"You're back again? Why won't you just leave me alone?" She sighed.
A haunter appeared in front of her and began laughing.
"Do you really enjoy bothering an old lady?" She frowned, looking down at her wedding ring.
The haunter grabbed the ring and through it across the room angrily . It crossed its arms in disgust. It's cold eyes glared at her.
"Why do you always do that? Please pick that up," she said calmly. She was use to this. The same haunter always came into her house to bother her.
The haunter stuck out its tongue and hissed in her face. She didn't bother putting up a fight anymore. She didn't know what it wanted but she knew it wasn't going anywhere. The bothersome Pokemon was the only thing she could consider a friend.
She spend the rest of the day searching her home for the ring. The haunter through the fit as it continued to smash vases and other valuables. Before she knew it, it was midnight and the old lady was still searching. She was in tears as she covered her face.
"Why did you do this? It's the only thing I have left to remember him!" She sobbed. The haunter rolled its eyes and left the house.
"I know you'll be back tomorrow.." she muttered.
She sighed and decided it was time to go to bed. She was miserable. She never thought that her life would become so empty. She was having nightmares every night about her husband. She tossed and turned as guilt took over her.
She opened her eyes wide to see the haunter in front of her. It stared blankly at the terrified woman. She covered her face with her blanket suddenly.
"I-it's you isn't it! Why can't you leave me alone? I know I messed up! Haven't I suffered enough? I was young and dumb! You've haunted me for years! I've been wearing your ring but that doesn't matter does it? It's not enough!" She scolded before breaking into tears again.
The haunter picked up the ring and put it on her finger. Frustrated, she tried taking it off. She pulled at it, but it remained on her finger. As she looked closer at the ring, she saw what the haunter had done. The ring was ingrained with big bold letters; "cheater".
She looked up at the Pokémon and realized what was happening. It wasn't going anywhere.
