CHAPTER 7

I woke up on the alarm and Charles weren’t there.

I saw a note on my lampshade and it says ‘went for hunting with Theuos, see you in a bit’

I rose up and went down and saw food on the table. So I dig in and threw the dishes on the dishwasher.

I checked on my phone and Sandy called and text for hundred times. I put on my clothes and went down then saw my bag that was already on my sofa.

I didn’t wait for Charles to come back as it was already 7:40 so I had driven myself to school.

How excited I was to see Maya’s face when she’d see me.

“Haifa!” Sandy shouted as I went out of my car.

“You disappeared yesterday and Charles were worried sick about you” she said

“I uhm” I said as Sandy cut in and said “Do not lie to me”

“I went in to run the city treasurer’s office because I forgot that my mortgages were on due” I lied

“You could at least could’ve called us” Sandy said

“I’m sorry next time I’ll call I promise” I said

And then she held my hand and walked inside we went straight to our locker when we passed by Maya celebrating with her team when she saw me and stood frozen. I just glared at her and walked passed through her.

Much to her wonder why I was there looking at her.

“By the way where’s Charles?” Sandy asked

“He said he’s gonna run some errands but he’ll catch up” I said and then closed my locker and went straight to our class.

To my surprise Charles were there looking at me and gave me smile.

His eye color had changed and he had more color on his skin.

“Hey” I greeted as I sat down

“You read my note?” he said

“Yep I did and I could see you had a good run” I said

“Yes we did” he said

“I am actually trying to focus on you more” he said

“Why?” I whispered as the professor got in

“Seeing Maya is wanting me to become somebody else” he said

“Charles, you’re not a monster anymore. Don’t worry we’ll have our chance” I said

“You always know what to say” he said as he gave me a smile

“Hey Haifa can we talk?” Chris said as Charles and I were going out of the school

“There’s nothing more to talk about Chris” I said

“This will only take a minute” he said as I looked at Charles and nod his head in agreement.

I went on to follow Chris and Charles keeping his distance

“Haifa, I’m sorry about leaving you I learned my lessons now” he said

“What are you pertaining too?” I asked

“Please, I know there’s something left of me to you – I want you back” he said

“What? Just like that? Really just like that?” I asked as he looked at me

“You fucking cheated on me and left me with a cheap girl and then you just want me back? – What am I some kind of your whore?” I asked
