Two days have passed since I woke up. They have been boring and the excact same routine each day. Wake up, eat, Sara comes, nap, eat, sit and worry about everything that needs to be done, ear again, then sleep. I can't stand sitting here doing absolutely nothing. Thankfully I haven't been alone. Cal eventually returned and hasn't left since. No one els has come to visit but I don't blame them, I wouldn't want to see this hot mess either . Those two days haven't been a complete waste though, I am healed enough to start walking again. I am still pretty injured but at this point it's up to nature to heel the rest. Alice had come in last night and said that I could leave tomorrow. This was amazing news but Cal did not think so. He practically had a kitten at the news. He kept going on about me not being ready and that I need to be healed more or that the stress will make it worse or I could fall blah blah blah. I don't know why but he will have to get over it because I need to get back to work. Sara, Julian, a couple nurses and I came up with a plan to walk and make sure Cal wasn't there when it happened.
"Cal, I'm hungry do you mind running to the cafeteria to get some breakfast?" I ask. Cal gives a quick confused look but then smiles "Sure, I will be back soon." Good he didn't question it. He left and a moment later the plan was in place. The group entered cautiously and quickly. " The line is usually long, so we have about 15-20 minutes, I think." Sara and Alice helps me move to the edge of the bed. My legs hang over the bed. My toes touch the cold floor and excitement fills me. The two grab my arms and I stand. The pain runs up and down my legs. It feels as if a thousand hornets surround my legs and are stinging me. Slowly I pick up a leg and start to move it. The pain burns and I fall back on the bed. Sara motions to trade with another nurse. She is still really weak and I haven't helped any. "Again" I have to do this. I stand again with the help of the nurses. I will my leg to take a step, than another, and another. Slowly we make our way to the door. Julian and Sara stand close in case I fall. Determination has filled me and the walking gets a tad easier. Alice did say my legs would be weak so walking would be hard for a while but that is nothing I can't handle. "You'll be walking with crutches for a while. Just until you are strong enough to walk by yourself." Alice says cheerfully. "As long as I can get back to work." Everyone is focused on me. Their eyes watch my feet to make sure I don't step wrong. I watch with them, dazzled by the sight of my toes. I wasn't sure I would see them again. Suddenly everybody jumps and looks up at the loud voice at the ends of the hall. "Mare! What are you doing? Are you crazy!" Cal jogs down the hall towards me dropping the couple bananas he brought for me. He is not happy. I hadn't realized we made it into the hall. When did that happen? Oh well we have been caught. Cal reaches us, then in one swift move he picks me up and carries me back to the room. He softly sets me back into bed and softly glares at me. The excitement and determination has left and replaced by frustration and the determination the punch Cal in the gut. "You can't be doing that, you will hurt yourself." Cal is also a little frustrated. "Cal, she's fine. She can't sit there forever." Julian shoots back. Cal turns and now glares at Julian. "No not forever but now is not the time. What if she falls?" Cal says angrily. "Then she will pick herself up and try again. She's a strong girl." Julian says. I silently cheer him on. Why couldn't cal see that I am fine? Everybody else saw it. Maybe I should add on eye examine for Cal on my to do list. "Well she will have crutches for a little bit. So that should stabilize her enough." Alice squeaks out. "And I'm sure you won't leave her alone so you can catch her if she does." Julian snaps back. "She's not ready!" Cal growls. "Tiberius Calore." I say angrily. Using his real name taste bitter and wrong but it shut everybody up. I am now standing and holding on to the bed. I dig deep and try to bring Mareenas poise back. " I am fine! How many times do I have to tell you? Also you don't get to decide if I am ready or not. I do! I have work to do. So if you could kindly return the room to normal temleture and guide me to the door." I channeled the best Mareena voice possible and to my surprise it works. Cal is still a little angry but his head now hangs low like a sad puppy. Alice silently snuck out and was back as fast as she left. She had went to retrieve some crutches. She handed the to me and quickly showed me how to use them. I slowly started to walk to the door. Cal follows behind. No one says a word as we left but silently watch us go. "I need to change. Let's stop at my room." I say still in royalty voice mood. Cal nods and the walk begins. The walk was slow and painfully quiet. Cal is practically walking on my heals and would not stop looking at me. There was a distant and thoughtful look in his eyes. The accident has shaken him up worse than I thought.
A/N sorry for not posting in forever! Summer is here and I plan to post more often. I need help, I can't decide which way the story should go. Should I connect it to the battle in the end of glass sword or should I creat a new battle? Maven would still show up in the battle. Let me know your opinion. Also I posted a new original story called Bound to Evil. It's about a girl named Hadley who sold her soul to the devil 8 years ago and has become the devils personal hitman. Then one day the devil had her her soul and says "I need a favor." That's all I'm going to say about it but if you are interested check it out. Ok long authors not over. Thank you and hope you enjoy😊
