We finally reach Mare's room. I open up the door for her and she clumsily makes her way in. I stay in the door way to make sure she is able to get what she needs and then leave while she changes. "Do you mind helping me?" Mare asks softly "Of course.". I am shocked, she must be worst than I thought. I close the door but don't take more than two steps into the room. She sits on the cot and tries to change her pants herself. I turn my back to give her a little privacy. It takes her a long time to put her new pants on. She grimaced and inhaled sharply several times. "Are you o-"
"I'm fine." She says through gritted teeth. From the noises she is making she is not fine but now is not the time to push her or she might push her lighting through me. It takes her several minutes more but she finally gets them on. "Can you help me with my shirt?" Mare sounds as if she just ran a marathon. I slowly turn around incase she wasn't successful in putting on her pants but fortunately they were on all the way. I nod and join her at the cot. I carefully take off her old shirt. A few grimaces escaped Mare's mouth and my heart broke a little each time. I grab the new shirt and look at her back. If I thought my heart was broken before I was completely wrong. The sight of her back shatters my heart. He back is bruised and cut from the fight. Sara was to wreak to fix everything on Mare and decided it was best to fix the important wound and leave the rest for later. But the mostly shocking is the sparatick scars that travel down her back. They were a painful memorie of the silencer and how it turned her lightning on her. The silencer did this. Maven did this to her. They were ugly and spread all over her back. The sight was heart breaking. I carefully place my hands on her shoulders and turn her to face me. She's a little confused but a smirk appears on her lips. "Cal, i am not in the mood right now." She stares at me and her face drops. I scan her face and travel down her torso. Her torso is just as bad. She is beaten and bruised. There is a thin scar that sits where her heart is. The worst part was the burned M on her collar bone. That monster had done this. He was to blame for it all. He had done many awful and cruel things but was that black hearted boy king capable of such horrific things? He was, and Mare was living proof. "Please put on my shirt." Mare says softly bring me out of my thought. Her head hung low and her eyes were closed. "What happened?" I need to know. " I don't want to talk about it." She was clearly reliving so many horrible memories. I carefully put on her shirt. She didn't grimace but silent tears fell down her cheeks. Softly I wipe the tears away with my thumb. All I want is to hold her, comfort her but I'm afraid I'll break her, so I grab her hand instead. "We should probably visit your family. They miss you a lot." I say trying to comfort her. She nods and shapely stands. We slowly make our way to the door and travel back down the endless hallway.
