Today I am meeting up with Frank. He told me found some new information about Jackie and he wanted to meet up with me. We decided to meet up at Start Bucks instead of the house.
"Hey Frank" I said once I spotted him sitting at a table in the back.
"Hey Max, Hows your eye?" He asks as I take a seat across from him.
"It's getting better" I answer. "So what's up?"
"Well the good news is we found her"
"I already know she's alive Frank. I need a location" I say.
"She and her group are going to be in Lebanon for 3 days performing and after that, they will going to Europe so we don't have much time if we arrived."
"If?" I say confused. "There's no 'if' we are going. I am going to find her." I say.
"But what about your dad? after you told me he already knew about me helping you look for her---" He stops to look around. He then leans in closer to the table to speak to me. "He wanted to meet with you today and tell you that it's a dead case and that Jackie is gone." I look at Frank not surprised that he would pull something like this.
"Well jokes on him" I say leaning back on my seat and crossing my arms.
"Don't worry about my dad I'll find a way for me to let me go. Tiffany pushes the date a week before school starts so that means we have to be at Lebanon by tomorrow and be back in New York in time for the wedding. No matter what we have to bring Jackie back before my dad says I do." I let out a breath to release my stress.
"It's going to be okay Max. Once she sees you she'll know she made a horrible mistake." Frank said.
I look away to stare at the window next to me "I just want to know why she did it. Why did she leave us?"
"I am sure she has a reason. You know she loves you both"
After my talk with Frank, I called the boys to let them know what was going to happen next. And of course all my friends were down, in fact, they gave me an idea of how to convince my dad to let me go.
At dinner, we ate in the backyard since the dining room was destroyed from the fight. No one would look at each other we all ate in silence. After a few minutes when I saw everyone was almost done eating I decided to ask my dad.
"Dad"
"Yes son" He answered looking up at me.
"The guys and I have been thinking about taking a trip togeather celebrate" I said.
"What kind of trip?" He ask.
"Um.. well in celebrating being in our senior year we thought it would be nice to hang out with each other before we become busy. Because once the school year starts we will all be busy with college applications and grades." I said. My dad leaned back in his seat to take in everything.
"And for how long would this trip be?" He ask.
"Just one week" I answered.
"A week. What about the wedding?" Tiffany asked. I rolled my eyes.
"That's a good question." My dad said.
"We will make sure to be back before the wedding. Besides the wedding is not until sunset, so we will be back in no time." I answer.
"Kevin" I looked at Tiffany confused. Why is she trying to stop me from going I thought her out of all people I would be gone.
"It's fine Tiffany" My Dad said putting his hand up.
"So have you decided where you guys are going to go?"
"Yes we decided to go to Lebanon" I answer with a smile. He looks at me in surprise.
"Really why there?"
"Just because. It's a place with so much history and culture, so we thought it would be a nice getaway" I reply.
"Um...okay. You can go, but in one conduction" My heart drops at the word conduction. "You have to go with Alexander as well"
"WHAT!" Alexander and I both shouted standing up at the same time.
"HELL NO!" I yelled shaking my head.
"Not in this lifetime. The day I hang out with his kid is the day hell freezes over!" I said.
"Well, then when that's the day you'll be able to go on your senior trip. No Alexander no trip" Is all he said before getting up to leave the table and walk into the house. Tiffany soon followed after. I stood there with Alexander in silence. I never thought in a million years I would be needed to ask Alexander a favor. Going on this trip means getting my family back and the only person who stands in the way of that is Alexander. I took a deep breath and turned to face him
"No" He said before I opened my mouth.
"Look man the trip is free and we don't even need to hang out. At most, we will see each other only in the plan to and from." I say trying to find reason with him. He starts to think for a moment almost like he is considering going.
"Umm...No" He says with a smile.
"Listen," I say taking a step next to him "This trip is really important to me and whether or not you come I will be going" I say staring him in the eyes.
Alexander smiled "I know and that's why I don't give a shit." He says and then leaves the backyard.
"Fuck!" I yell. I am so close. So fucking close and my dad had to fuck it up.
No matter what I will find Jackie.
