I realized I have not changed. I am still the same little boy from 11 years ago. I stand by the door as I hear my dad break all the vases.
"ELEVEN FUCKING YEARS!" I hear him scream. When we left the hospital dad did not say a word. It was an awkward ride back home. I didn't even see Jackie leave the hospital. Once we reached the house my dad quickly ran upstairs and locked himself in his office.
I thought by bringing Jackie here everything would be back to normal. I realized that I knew nothing and understood nothing about my dad and Jackie relationship. I thought Jackie and my dad's relationship was how a relationship is supposed to be. A selfless love. A love to powerful to fall apart. I now know they are two different people. Both of them have changed and I don't know if they will ever get back together let alone work things out.
As I stand there by the door I see Alexander walking up the stairs. He walks by with a smile. I slip my foot out in front of him and cause him to trip. But that still doesn't take that smile away from his face.
"Great job Max" He says getting up. "You manage to screw this family and I didn't have to lift a finger." He laughs as he walks away and goes into his room. I lean the back of my head on the door.
"What the fuck am I going to do" I whisper to myself. I listen as my dad continues to yell and destroy his office.
"Do you love my father?" I asked sitting next to Jackie at the hospital.
She didn't answer right away. After some thought, she said "Yes and I still do."
"Then show him. Prove it to him. To the world and to yourself that you love him. You can't run anymore. What whatever happens good or bad you have to be here." I say looking into her eyes to show how serious I am.
"Fight for your man, Dory" I say putting my hand over hers. She looks at me with worry eyes and then takes a deep breath.
"Okay" She says squeezing my hand.
"I won't run away up anymore."
Suddenly an idea popped into my head. I quickly pulled out my phone and make my way towards my room.
"Hello" Jackie picked up the call.
"Yes, Jackie where are you?" I quickly say.
"Max? I am---" She wouldn't answer.
"Hello are you still there?" I said when the call went quite.
"Yes, I'm still here" She answers.
"So where are you because I need you to come here asap" I say.
"What? why is everything okay?" She yells into the phone.
