"And when you're done. Wax on, wax off." Our trainer said.
Alexander and I were able to get the seasonal Car Wash job. I am so glad it is two hours away from the school. I would hate for anyone to see me like this. Today is Saturday and it is our first day of work. I am very nervous. There are a lot of men workers here. And they are very big. Most of them are old. Alexander and I are the youngest ones here. Are trainer Diego is the manager of this car wash. He said since his kids are in college and are focusing on school there is a short staff. So until this school year ends Alexander I have this job.
It is so hot today and the sun is just shining down on us. And these uniforms don't help at all. We are wearing dark blue jumpsuits with black boots
"Got it?" Diego said. I jump at the sound of his voice. I forgot I was supposed to be listening I spent most of my time looking around and daydreaming.
"Yes, Sir." Alexander answered.
"Alright, I let you guys be part of Jojo's team. He is lane three" He says pointing. "I'll be coming to check up on you every now and then. Take care" He says and walks away. I look over at Alexander who takes a deep breath and begins to walk away.
"Alexander" I said stopping him. He turns to look at me.
"Umm... Do you remember everything he said back there?" I ask.
"Were just washing cars, Max. This isn't rocket science." He says like it's not a big deal and turns to walk away.
"Right" I said following behind him.
"So you're the two fresh meat." Jojo said checking Alexander and me up and down. He crosses his arms and thinks for a moment. Jojo is a tall black man with a gut. He is chewing on a toothpick and is wearing shades with his white hat on backward. Jojo has is jumpsuit unzip and hanging around his wait with a wife beater on.
"Alright let's see what you got. Gray eyes you'll be on rinsing station. And pretty boy you'll be on wash station. He says then walks away.
"Where's the wash station? I ask confused."
"Just go to the area that looks like where you should be." Alexander said and walks away. I look around to see two guys up in the front scrubbing a car with sponges. I walk over to them.
"Um... Hello, I will be working with---" I am hit in the face with a dry sponge.
"Let's save that for later we got a work to do today." One of the guys say. He has long black hair and it is pulled back in a ponytail.
"You see all those care lined up back there?" He said pointing up ahead. I see a line of cars lined up all around the block. My jaw drops.
"Yeah, we have to get all these done before rush hour. Now go get gloves and a bucket from the storage room and fill it up with water. Once you are done come back and get some soap and start washing." He says and continues to scrub the car he is working on.
