The next day I spent the morning with Jackie's family. Sugar mama made breakfast for me and the family. After breakfast, Luis and Larry wanted to take me out for lunch. I was really happy that they wanted to take me out because I did not want to go home. Luis and Larry has always been my two favorite uncles. They come to all my games and always come by to visit me. Until my dad made us move away and lose all contact with them.
"Wow this place is amazing" I say in shock as I walked into their restaurant.
"And everything is on us so you can order whatever you want" Luis said putting his arms around me. I smiled as they lead me upstairs. The restaurant gave me a New Orleans vibe. Once we made it to the second floor all the background noise started to die down.
"This is our VIP floor" Luis said taking a seat at an empty table.
We all took a seat and Luis orders a bottle of red wine.
"Oh Um... I can't---"
"Shh. Just chill Max" Luis said with a wink. I order a Jambalaya and Luis order shrimp-n- grits. While Larry order blacked red fish. Our food came very fast and we ate in silence.
"So how's your dad Max?" Larry ask. The subject about my dad was something I desperately wanted to avoid.
"Fine" Is all I answer before I took a sip of my wine. The wine is very good. It was sweet and went perfectly with the food.
"Ever since you guys left we were worried something might have happened. But after we saw the news he was seeing someone we thought everything is fine." Said Luis
Everything is not fine.
"Does she treat you well?" When Luis ask the question I was reminded of what happened last night. I touched the side of my face. When they both saw I didn't want to answer they dropped the subject.
"Listen Max, we want you to know although Jackie is gone we are still here for you" Larry says. I look up at him and smile.
"I know" I reply. I honestly wanted to tell them the truth and everything that has been going on, but I just knew they wouldn't understand. I feel until I bring Jackie home no one will understand me.
After lunch, my uncles took me to out to play some baseball. They wanted to see how much I have grown since then. As it was getting late I got a call from my dad. I did not reply. I tried my best to ignore his calls and forces on my time with my uncles. But it wasn't until he sent me a text telling me that the women parents were on the way and I promised him I would attend the dinner. So I told my uncles that will be in touch and left to go home.
When I got home the living room is redecorated, I saw a picture above the fireplace of my dad, the women, Alexander and I in a frame. It was obvious I was photoshop in the picture because I never made myself be seen in a photo with them. Rolling my eyes at the picture I made way towards my room.
