I got up to stretch my legs for a bit before going back to bed. Guys, I know this was my idea, but I'm having serious doubts about sleeping in the corner. I gazed out the window at the lavender night sky. The sun should be rising soon. Wait, the sun should be rising soon! Okay, calm down, just crawl into his bed and lay back-to-back. I stared out the window until sunrise.
Once time was up, I came up with the best ancient-timey alarm clock! "Wake up, wake up, wake up!" I hollered in Atem's ear with a high-pitched voice.
He sprang back and fell out of bed. "What was that?!"
"Tattletail, that's me~!" I crawled back under the covers. "Tattletail go home."
"You don't have to hide like that." Atem reassured me. "The sun has risen, they'll never expect us to do it now."
"I don't trust you!" I murmured. "Seto must hate himself for letting me come with you! The first time you lost to him and he loses his sister to the sun dragon's child inside her!"
Atem stood up and walked out the door. "I'll be right back. If you need to get anything out of your system, feel free to trash the throne room. I'm rarely in there anyways, I don't care how it looks." he said, turning back to wink at me, thought I couldn't see him.
After finally getting up to go for a "leisurely walk" around the castle, I figured out where he ran off to.
Bakura had begun his Shadow Duel with Atem. Atem was just... staring down at his father's coffin.
"Justice lies with the Egyptian gods..."
"Liar!" I wanted to shout. But would drawing attention to myself alter Atem's memories? I can't risk it! No matter my rage...
"Pharaoh, I'm sure you and the former king have a lot of catching up to do," Bakura began. "but we are in the middle of something. And you interrupted me at the best part, just as my Diabound was about to deliver the finishing blow, forcing you into submission! Now, any last words?
Don't do it, Atem. They're on another side now. There's gotta be another way!
"Legendary gods of Egypt, please, hear my cry. In the name of every Pharaoh that came before... I now beseech thee!"
He did it anyway! "God, please, don't let the coffin respond!"
"Awaken, mighty Obelisk, and rid the sacred pass of this darkness..."
Who am I kidding?! If I even tried to stop him from summoning Obelisk, it would have altered Atem's memories COMPLETELY! Maybe even ended them right where he stood! Well, at least Bakura's done with for the time being. But I can just see myself in Heaven now, "I wish I had stopped Obelisk from being summoned..."
Atem's POV
So far, Lillyan has not hated me for what I have to do. Or so I think, anyway. It's not anyone's fault that it has to be this way, but I still care about Lillyan's values.
"Atem..."
Lillyan... She looks upset... Perhaps it is as I feared after all... Perhaps she hates me now after I tried to--... "Lillyan, you seem upset. I was wondering... do you hate me after all of this?"
"N-no, I don't hate you. To be honest, I was thinking... Well..." She paused. "I am a little upset about my position and duties as a Temple, but to be honest, I'm more upset with you. Back there against Bakura, why did you summon Obelisk?"
I chuckled. "The past is gone, you cannot change it. But the future is based on the decisions you make."
Lillyan nodded, a worrisome look in her eyes. "Right."
"Now, we'll have to make our 'affair' a little more believable. Take off everything and step into the lake with me... Adia..."
She turned around and walked back inside. "Nice try, I'm going to bed."
What if one of the Priests finds us so far apart? If I have to get physical to stop her, sobeit! "Take it off!"
"But what if I don't wanna?!"
"Undress!"
A/N: If anyone knows where that's from, you get a cookie
Mahad ran over to us. "Pharaoh, what are you doing?!"
"Mahad, I understand that you respect the ancient traditions of her people, but Adia is my Temple."
