"Let's just get in, see if he's awake yet, and get the Afterlife out of here." Atem reminded me as we approached the gates of Kaiba Manor. The only setting Kaiba was ever shown in alone was his office at KaibaCorp, so naturally, I was completely appalled when I saw the property. "I know. Pretty fancy, right?" Atem joked.
I shrugged my shoulders a second later. "Meh, Heaven's gonna be nicer." I walked up to the gate, about to ring the doorbell when--
"Wait, what if he doesn't answer?"
"Why wouldn't he? Beside the obvious."
"See those cameras? He sees me on the feed and no one will answer."
"Oh puh-lease, he was desperate to get you back!"
"Bet."
"Five bucks says he sends them running."
"Deal."
I turned back around and rang the doorbell.
"Who is it?" one of Kaiba's butlers asked over the intercom.
"Lillyan Silver, the girl your boss was looking for in the Exodia tournament." I answered. "And I have his "significant other" with me."
"Significant other?"
Immediately, the intercom clicked off and within minutes, the butler was out of breath behind the now open gate. "Pay up." I said, my palm outstretched towards Atem.
"Fair enough." he replied. "Give me a gun, I'll go shoot them down right now."
It didn't take long for that hand to reach my forehead. "Not that kind of buck! Ishizu was right, you do still have a lot to learn."
"Please, come with me." the butler said once he caught his breath.
We did as we were told and were led all throughout the mansion. Again faking my awe, I thought to myself, Heaven's definitely gonna be nicer.
As we were walking, I looked to my right and saw Mokuba at a desk with a French-English dictionary. "Watch this." I said.
I walked up to Mokuba's desk and said, "Salut Mokuba. Comment ça va?"
His eyes lit up. "Ah! Ça va bien. Mais, ça ne va pas bien avec Seto. Et toi?"
"Ça va bien." I replied, and rejoined the others.
"What did he say?" Atem asked.
"He's doing fine." I began. "But, something means trouble with Moneybags. Pfft, called him Moneybags."
"Yes, mister Kaiba has had a bit of a temper since your Duel. In fact, he was expecting you to come."
Indirectly inviting me to his mansion? Temper? Either I'm finally starting to attract men or I must be seven feet in over my sick head!
I was about to find out when we got to his bedroom. "Okay, let's see what deep trouble your new power got us into." Atem said in an annoyed tone.
I took a deep breath and hung my head. "God, don't let me catch him changing when I open this door." I prayed aloud.
Luckily, the Lord was looking out for me. Kaiba was just on his computer. I thought I was safe from a good Blue-Eyes style scolding, until he looked up.
"Pharaoh?!"
"Were you surprised?" I could hear Hoopa now. "Hoopa grant Set-khan's wish!"
Kaiba jumped up from his desk- and that's not an exaggeration, he literally swung himself over his desk-, and dragged Atem into a bear hug. "You're back..." he said crying.
Trying his best not to be a disturbance, Mokuba walked up behind me. "Comment tu t'appelles?"
"Hm? Ah, Je m'appelle Lillyan."
He nodded. "Echante'."
"Echante'."
Glancing out the window, Mokuba proceeded to speak English again. "Hey Seto, it's getting pretty late. Do you think they can stay the night?"
"Let's just give him a minute." I wanted to say, but he was already back at his desk, sifting through the clutter of papers. Once he found what he was looking for, he motioned for me to come closer.
"Give this to your father as soon as you can." he told me, handing me a note addressed to my father. I unfolded it and read it aloud.
"'Dear Sterling,
I know we struggled at first, and are now apart because of it, but I have good news and bad news. The good news is we have two little boys. The bad news is that I only have so much longer with them. I was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Leukemia, and given only nine months to live. But there's more good news, your words seem to have reached me. I just hope they can reach little Seto and Mokuba. I am also aware of your physical disabilities. If you are unable to take care of them, then please, send them somewhere safe. Goodbye...
-Katnis'
You expect me to believe that you're my half-brother just based off of this? Anybody could have written this!"
"I also have this." he went on, this time, handing me a large yellow envelope. "My birth certificate. Your father's name is on it."
"My father's name is on it!" I laughed as I opened the envelope. "Father: Sterling Silver..."
"Guess that means they can stay as long as they like." Mokuba joked.
Seto nodded to his brother, then turned and winked at me. His new sister...
I cleared my throat. "On one condition. I don't want your servants anywhere near me. If I want something done, I'll do it myself. Especially dress." I turned to Atem and gave him the death glare.
"Deal." Seto responded. "Tell the others to stay away from the girl." he told his butler.
