This has been on my mind for years.
first off, I am not saying if you lied a couple of times to get out of a bad situation or lied a few times for something else you are a un ethical person. It is normal. Humans do that all the time. It is also a survival skill. It is completly normal. I am talking about those people who lie on a daily basis to build this fake "reputation" of themselfs.
DONT LIE TO ANYONE.
This is just a rant regarding what my friends tell me their friends lying to them, or what my internet friends tell me about their close ones lying, or even based off my own personal experiences and basically everything in general, so hopefully you relate, and if you DO lie (atleast to THAT extent), hopefully you will UNDERSTAND AND LISTEN to this rant because hopefully I am speaking on most people's behalf.
let me first talk from my pov.
I don't care if you want to impress me or wanna show off or anything. I seriously dont care. But please dont LIE to try to "build up your reputation". First, lying just makes a bad habit. You have to lie to cover up another lie and makeup another lie to cover up the lie you just lied about your lie. Not only it is a bad habit, it is very unfaithful.
If you lie to me because you don't want me to be sad, just know that I would rather be told the truth and be hurt than be lied to and be okay. I am pretty sure almost everybody would like it that way too. For example, If say, i failed my test and you were marking it, and lied to me saying "no you did perfect" because you didn't want me getting hurt, and I end up beliving that. Next time i take a test in the same subject, I would think I was already good at the subject and i didnt need to improve because I "got a good mark" on my last test. And I ended up failing that one too. Just because you didn't tell me I got a bad mark, I ended up getting it worse and getting hurt MORE in the end.
Another thing is that people literally KNOW when you are lying. Even if it is over text where the person CANNOT see your hand movements.
Idk when im talking or texting to some ppl or something it is so painfully obvious they are lying that you phsically cringe.
But usually I play along cus y not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Another thing. I really hate those people who lie so much that basically EVERYTHING what people think about them is a lie and in the end they are really a different person from who you thought they were.
In the end, Liars (again, the ones who lie EVERYDAY) do not care if they are hurting other people. Even though liars might think they do and convince themselves they do. They do not care about ethics and honsety. They only care about getting what they want and quote on quote "need".
Lying comes with a price.
Remember that.
Lying....everything.....come with a price.
p.s, I hope this rant does not make me come off as a bad person or make you think Im "bratty" or something. It is just something morally wrong.
