Dallas

I woke up before my parents. I got off the couch and stretched as much as I could before texting Kyson.
K-'I'm up. I've been up for the past ten minutes.'
M-'Just checking because I'll be walking by myself to the stalls.' I texted him.

A few seconds later he had texted me saying he was outside waiting. Of course he doesn't want me walking around without him or someone else. I stepped outside quietly after putting my boots on. Even leaving my parents a note on where I was and who I was with.

"Should have stayed over with me last night." He said still in his basketball shorts and tee. "Your lucky I don't want to lose my virginity to some random cowboy that only cares about what's between my legs." I said.

"Shouldn't be scorned over putting sweats on due to them. It was more of the morning than last night." He said. "Oh boo. Cry me a river will ya." I said. "Your lucky its too chilly this morning to dunk you." He said.

"Kyson Travis if you dunk me in a water trough I will make your life miserable until I forget about it." I said. "Yes mom." He said jokingly. We got there as Drew finished with his horses. I felt Kyson's arm go around my waist quickly as he passed by.

I definitely feel uncomfortable around Drew. Just for the simple fact that he's at least twice my age. We quickly fed and water all six horses. I saw Brody walking up to the stalls dressed. As soon as he was close enough I hugged him.

He was taken aback by my gesture. Yes he's annoying at times. Yes he's a pain in my side. But he's my older brother and he's actually trying to look out for me and keep me safe. He slowly returned the gesture. "Happy birthday Brody." I said. "Thank you baby sis." He said. His chin resting on the top of my head. His height had came from grandpa on mom's side. Me at five five two inches shorter than dad.

We then walked back to the trailer for Kyson and I to get dressed. I grabbed jeans and a tank top changing quickly before letting Ky change. Our parents weren't up quite yet. "Bro what do you want for breakfast?" I asked. "Homemade chocolate chip waffles." He said. Luckily I stocked up on chocolate chips.

While he and Kyson watched Good Morning America I quickly made up the batter and started them. Marty and Hanly came in first. Then mom and dad. The rest of Kyson's siblings were with grandparents. Brody and I were the only two. I finished Brody's plate then put another on. Marty went to his camper and came back with another waffle iron. Dad went over to theirs and brought theirs over.

I had three waffle irons going at once cooking waffles. Candles were placed on top of his waffles. We sang happy birthday to my brother making sure not to leave any part out. He rolled his eyes playfully before blowing the candles out. The only years he wasn't in Canada for his birthday was one through four. Canadian baby, Canadian birthday.

Once breakfast was done we all sat around eating, joking and remembering when he was younger. "You know. Jade wanted to come so badly but she couldn't because of the ranch. She is in love with the ranch. That girl." Hanly said. "Loves her horses more than anything and the cattle." Marty said. "Well we all know where she got that." Hanly said. Oh Kyson's older sister. Big time ranch person.

Gally on the other hand would have loved to come but is too young to be here yet. She's with grandparents. Once breakfast was done we went out to practice. I saddled both my horses and led them to the ring. I ran the chute for Brody and Kyson as they calf roped. I then asked Brody if I could do it.

He shrugged before I got Daniel. I warmed him up before backing him into the box. Brody put a calf in the chute. Then released it when I was ready. Once my loop was over his head I stopped Daniel dismounting quickly. I flipped the calf and tied him tight by three legs. Then signaled I was done.

"Not bad Dallas. You could beat these two competing in men's tie down roping." Dad said. "Learned from the best." I said releasing the calf. Kyson muttered something. Dad and Marty even got into it. Then Kyson and I practiced our team roping.

Hanly told us where we needed improvement and gave us pointers. Once we were done the three of us walked around the booths I saw this hat that I thought would look good on Brody. I dragged him over to the booth having him try it on.

"Yup that's what I thought." I said. "What?" He asked. I spun him around to look in the mirror. After seeing himself in it he took it off and saw the price. I luckily saw it before he tried it on, right in my price range. I paid for it behind his back and gave it to Kyson to run it to my parents.

I then texted mom to wrap it for tonight. All afternoon Kyson and I took turns paying for something Brody wanted but didn't think he could because of the price. He was looking at two halters for his horses at one point.

After seeing how much those halters were a piece. I sent pics to mom and dad for them to get them. By the time we were done going through the market area I'm sure Kyson and I paid close to a thousand dollars put together.

After supper we all sat down to let Brody open his presents. One after another his face lit up. Until the hat. "But this was the one that was. How?" He asked. "Eh. It was nothing." I said. He immediately picked me up hugging me.

We may fight, fuse, and get on each other's nerves, but it's all worth it in the end.
