I sat on the couch playing on my phone. "I've had it!" I looked up at my brother. "You better save your boyfriend before he gets killed." He said before storming up the stairs. I got off the couch and walked outside onto the back porch. Winter here really wasn't a winter. Freezing cold in the morning and then sixty degrees in the evening.
I looked out across the yard seeing Kyson going into the barn and coming back with a suitcase. That made me move. "Where you going?" I asked. "To clear my head. Maybe I'll get hit by a semi on the way." He said. I wrapped my arms around him. "Please don't go." I said. "I'll be back in a week. My parents have asked me to come home for a few days so the family can talk with Jade about some issues." He said.
"Promise?" I asked. "I promise I'll be back baby." He said. He lifted my head to look at him in the eyes. "I'll even let you know how the horses are and how many were homed." He kissed me. Then hugged me close before getting in. "Take care of my boys for me. You know where their bridles and saddles are. Feel free to ride them." He said before putting the truck in drive.
As I watched him drive down the strip to the gate I wished I was in the seat next to him. Once he was gone I went up to the house. I got a shower, ate leftovers, and went to bed, early.

I got up before Brody and went to feed. Once all that was done I hung from a sturdy pipe and did curl ups. At one point I had to take my jacket off. I took a breath and looked at my forming abs. Over the week I've been working out to pass time. "So you took up physical exercise while your boyfriend is gone." Brody said. "What? Don't like that I'm gaining muscle?" I asked.
The sound of an engine came to my ears. "Don't you." I was already off the pipe before he could say anything. "Don't what? Move?" I asked. As I stood in the doorway I realized how chilly it really was this morning. He smiled lightly as he got out. I went up to him. He hugged me tightly. "May I talk to you?" He asked. "Yeah." I said. He put an arm around my waist as I put mine around his hugging him as we walked.
Brody looked at me oddly. Kyson led me up to the loft. Then closed the door behind us locking the door. He let me go and went to the couch. He fell on it. "Remember when I said I found something in my sister's bed?" He asked. "Yeah." I said. "She's three months pregnant. That guy left her when he found out." He said.
I went over to him. "That guy had the nerve to leave my big sister when she was vulnerable." I laid down next to him. "I wish she waited. I wish Jade had waited until the right guy had came along before she did that." He sobbed. I held his head close to my chest. I kissed the top of his head. "Ky. It wasn't your fault. You can't beat yourself up over something you didn't do." I said. He wrapped his arms tightly around me.
I kissed his head again. "I don't want children until I'm married." He said. "I know Ky. Same here." I said. He set me on his lap. I put my arms around his neck. "I. I just don't know what I'm going to do." He said. "Pray." I said. "Pray that your sister has a healthy pregnancy and baby. Pray that a man will step in and be the dad to that baby and raise it as his own."
He held me tighter and buried his head in my neck. I could hear him mumbling against me as he gave a silent prayer.
