Fear of Falling (Complete)

"Kagami-kun," Kuroko's flat voice sounded behind him. "You can't keep running."

Kagami highly doubted that, he could keep running if Aomine wanted to, but he would trust Aomine. Even if Kuroko and Furihata were sent back to heaven, as long as he was with Aomine, the angels would be able to find them again. He didn't want that. But he wouldn't say it just yet, he wanted this to work. Kagami turned around, seeing how close Kuroko was getting. He gulped, standing in front of Aomine, preparing for a fight.

For a minute, Kuroko stood there, holding Kagami's gaze. He breathed, "I'm sorry." Kuroko brandished a special blade, ones used to neutralize an angel and keep the angel from using their abilities. No angel of Kuroko's rank was supposed to have a blade like that. It had to be another thing that Akashi gave to Kuroko to use against him. Kuroko dashed forward, slashing at Kagami with the blade.

Kagami brought his arms up just in time to block the blow. But Kuroko was getting ready to try again. Kagami grabbed Kuroko's hand as it sailed down to stab him, doing his best to keep the blade from piercing his chest. Kuroko was surprisingly strong for his small stature. Kuroko moved the blade a little, managing to cut Kagami's hand. It wasn't enough to neutralize Kagami's powers, but it did distract him for a moment too long.

Furihata brandished another blade, coming at Kagami before he could get away from Kuroko. Furihata was about to stab Kagami, Aomine stepped in the way, the blade burying in his arm. He grit his teeth, raising his usable hand up to touch Furihata's forehead. Furihata let out a scream, sinking to his knees and soon disappearing altogether.

"What did you do to him?" Kuroko raised his voice, it didn't seem like much, but for him it was a lot. He released Kagami, running over to Aomine and where Furihata was.

"He's fine, he just lost his focus to be here," he raised his hand as Kuroko got close enough and put his hand on Kuroko's head, "Just like you will too."

Kuroko's eyes widened, he kept gasping, trying to get air. Kagami knew that in a second he would be gone. He quickly reached out, grabbing onto Kuroko's arm, planning to just let Kuroko pull him along with him.

"Kagami!" Aomine furrowed his brow, reaching for Kagami.

Kagami stepped back, out of Aomine's reach, he couldn't risk Aomine getting pulled along too. He shook his head, more tears falling onto his cheeks, "I'll never let them take you."

He saw Aomine reach out for him one last time before everything was gone.
