It was already getting dark by the time Kagami got out to the wilderness of the foothills. He wasn't afraid of any of the creatures that could be lurking around, it just made his job a little more difficult.
He did his best to search and find any traces of a human's presence. Of course there was no human energy signature, but there could still other things like footprints. Kagami wasn't going to find those in the dark. But he couldn't wait until morning, it might be too late by then.
He started walking in one direction, he felt a strange pulsing coming from ahead and getting a bit stronger as he got closer. It really started to hurt his head, he could barely see. The world started to blur around him. As best he could tell, he was coming up to a clearing and there might have been something like a cave on the far side. Kagami thought if he could just get to it, he could wait out the headache. Perhaps what was more troubling was that he had a headache in the first place, angels shouldn't get headaches.
Kagami was in no shape to puzzle over it, he could barely walk. He tried his best to keep heading for the cave, but it seemed like the closer he got, the worse his headache became. He pushed on until his legs just wouldn't walk forward anymore and his knees ended up buckling underneath him, leaving him alone in the clearing.
