Aomine pulled Kagami into his arms, he felt so afraid to lose him again. Kagami automatically hugged him back. He trusted Aomine, especially after everything that Aomine told him, there was no way he would think he was lying about any of it. But it still felt like they were destined to be pulled apart.
He pulled back, looking up into Aomine's sapphire eyes, "You're here with me now, can we just stay like this? Forever? We can just forget the rest of the world."
Aomine dropped his gaze, shaking his head. "We're fine for now, but if we keep this up... one of us will die. If we're here too long, I'll die. If we're in heaven too long, you'll die. We just aren't meant to survive in the other's world."
Kagami rested his forehead against Aomine's, "I'd rather live with you in heaven and make the most of our time before I die, than stay here and live without you forever."
"No," Aomine pulled back, taking hold of Kagami's face with both of his hands, "I will not bring you with me for you to die and I will not stay here to commit suicide when I know there has to be another way."
Kagami looked back into Aomine's eyes, trying to be strong. He didn't want to cry, but the thought of losing Aomine, he couldn't stand it. "Then what is another way?"
"I will make you an angel again," Aomine's eyes were serious. Kagami knew that he would follow through with the promise, he just didn't know how.
"But wouldn't that mean that..." Kagami could hardly get the words out, it felt so wrong to even think it, "That I'd have to love someone else and have them fall for me?"
Aomine shook his head, "I think we can do it without needing anyone else falling from heaven." He took Kagami's hand, resting it over his heart. Kagami looked down at their hands, he could feel the steady beat of Aomine's heart. He could almost feel the power of Aomine's grace radiating through him. Aomine leaned a little closer to Kagami, "I will make you an angel using my own grace."
Kagami furrowed his brow, he wasn't sure how that made their situation better. "I won't make you fall from heaven... wouldn't that just separate us again?"
"I've heard so many reflections on love, that two individuals could share a soul because of how much they love each other," he took Kagami's hands in his, smiling, "Our grace is just an angel's soul. Our souls connect us." He rested a hand on Kagami's cheek, caressing his smooth skin. "I think it's worth trying."
Kagami rested his hand over Aomine's nuzzling into his lover's palm. He didn't want to get his hopes up, but the way Aomine said it with such confidence, it seemed like it would definitely work. He took a deep breath, looking back at Aomine, "If it'll keep us together, then I want to try it too."
Aomine smiled, he held onto Kagami, hugging him tightly. Kagami closed his eyes, leaning into Aomine. He felt like he barely blinked, but when he opened his eyes again, they weren't in the cave. They were in a large empty room, he could see the stars in the distance, it was beautiful. He had never been here before, but he knew it was heaven. He stepped back from Aomine, craning his head to look around the room. Each wall and the ceiling were intricately carved to have vines emblazoned on them. "Where is this..."
"My heaven." Aomine smiled, standing next to Kagami and wrapping his arm around Kagami's waist. "This place is exactly the same as when I left it from before I fell. I created this place as a place I could always come back to and feel free from all the other angels. Of course most of the angels around now weren't even around then."
"How has it not changed after all of this time?" Kagami turned, looking right at Aomine.
Aomine smiled, "I put a lot of effort into keeping this place a secret. I didn't want anyone to find it. I was always afraid that in my absence, someone would." Aomine's smile faded a little, "But now, I'm going to change that..."
