Aomine moved to sit next to Kagami, making Kagami's head hurt more intensely. "Will you help me?"

Kagami looked at him, concerned, "How do I make you an angel again? I don't have that kind of power, I'm not an elder in heaven."

"I have a way, kind of a ritual," he smiled at Kagami, "Just a few easy steps and I'll have my grace back."

Kagami furrowed his brow, he had an uneasy feeling about this, if it was easy, then why did Aomine need his help? "Why do you want to go back there? Won't the other angels just try to kill you?"

Aomine shrugged, "They could try, but I'm one of the most powerful angels, I doubt they could succeed. The only reason why they can get closer to me now is because I've been cast to a human. Most of my power is still with my grace."

Kagami turned to look right into Aomine's eyes, "Why were you cast from heaven? What made you so impure that it physically affects purity?"

Aomine looked away, his gaze was directed at the other wall, but Kagami could tell that he was far away in some memory. "I fell in love. There was a human, not unlike you, who was more pure than so many of the angels I knew."

"How is that bad?" Kagami didn't understand, from what Aomine said, it didn't seem like a bad thing to care for another.

Aomine smirked, turning his gaze back to Kagami, "When was the last time you felt love?"

"I can't really recall there ever being a time..." Kagami creased his brow. Now that he thought about it, he couldn't say he knew what love was, he'd only heard the humans speak of it. Angels didn't love, he didn't know what it was like to love or to be loved.

Aomine let out a small laugh, "Exactly, angels don't feel love, they don't feel anything. They're not supposed to. They're just supposed to obey and to protect a human's ability to feel. Why do they get all the get to have all the experiences while we, the powerful and nearly immortal angels, have to watch from the sidelines, feeling confused whenever a human reacts to something or says they're feeling something."

"That got you cast from heaven?" Kagami was trying to follow, he was still a bit confused as to why Aomine valued feelings so much. How could he value something he didn't have?

Aomine shook his head, "It made me impure. It took away that sterile purity and that's why I was cast from heaven. I wasn't pristine enough to be an angel anymore."

"Then how are you going to become an angel again? Do you have to be purified?" Kagami knitted his brow together, he wasn't sure how to go about starting to purify someone and he hoped he didn't have to start now.

"Oh please no," Aomine said with a shudder, "Being purified would be like being sterilized and I do not want that." He looked at Kagami, "There's five steps. I need to suffer as a human has, which I've done. Then I need to ease a dying soul's pain. I can tell you the rest after you agree to help me."

Kagami bit his lip, he wasn't sure if he should, he always did what he could to serve humans. If he helped Aomine, then he wouldn't be able to return to Riko just yet and tell her that he found the special human. But that didn't mean he could never tell her, he could just help Aomine first and then tell her. He didn't know why he tried to hard to reason with himself over it, there was just some pull that Aomine had that made him want to help him. He nodded, "I'll help you become an angel again."
