Dusky pounced and knocked over the robot. She growled and bit it's metal neck then, after a moment, let go and got off. The dents Dusky made seemed to pop back into place as the robot stood up. Dusky got ready to attack again. She stalked around the robot in a circle, eyes ferocious and unwavering.
The trick was to think of someone you hated and imagined that person was the robot. Herobrine was what she was picturing it was. She wanted to tear him limb from limb. She wanted him to suffer.
Notch stood watching. He was impressed on Dusky's attacks. Although there were a few rough edges, she was quite skilled in the attacking department. Elizabeth came out with some dog food for Dusky.
"I thought that maybe, since she won't come back inside to eat, I'd bring it out here." Notch nodded a thanks and Elizabeth placed the bowl in the floor and then walked back inside. Just then, Dusky charged forward and sunk her teeth deep in the leg of the robot, shook her head a little, then let go. Notch looked up to see the night sky, stars dotted around seemingly randomly and a bright moon. Dusky had been attacking this robot since lunch.
"Dusky," Notch called. Dusky stopped stalking the robot again and turned to face Notch reluctantly. "You should take a break and eat some food." All Dusky did in response was turn away and pounce at the robot. Notch sighed. He understood Dusky really wanted to get Steve back. As soon as they started training, that's all she did. "I can tell you're worried about Steven." Notch began. Dusky stopped attacking but didn't look at Notch. "However, if you don't eat you won't be able to get to him."
Dusky made a noise somewhere between a whine and a growl. She knew he was right but she needed to keep training. She slowly trodded away from the robot and over to Notch, who put the food bowl down on the floor. Dusky began to eat quickly as Notch relaxed slightly, finally managing to get the dog to eat something. Now he had to begin thinking of ideas to get her to sleep. Dusky was really stubborn.
After finishing, Dusky went straight back to training. Notch had an idea that would get her away from the robot and to bed, at the latest, in a hours time.
"Dusky, my men have discovered something that you might want to have a look at." This immediately caught Dusky's attention and she rushed over to Notch, a questioning look in her eyes. Notch nodded and gestured for her to follow him, which she did quickly. They walked back into the castle and down a hallway.
Notch wasn't lying; there was something that his men had found. He ordered them to search Steve's house, top to bottom. His men recovered a number of items but the most important thing they found was a single note.
Notch lead Dusky into what first looked like a dining room, until Dusky noticed the armour stands along the sides and the massive map on the wall. This seemed to be where important matters were discussed and big plans were made.
Notch sat down at the furthest end of the table, under the map, then pulled out the seat closest to him with his powers, offering Dusky a place to sit down. She jumped up, turned so she was facing Notch, and sat down. She gave Notch an expecting gaze.
"I am quite aware you are a clever wolf, Dusky." Notch started then placed the note on the table in front of her. Dusky stared at the words, not being at all able to understand them. "Are you able to read that?" Dusky shook her head. Notch gave a nod and then took the note back.
"This note is addressed to me." He read it out to Dusky. "Hello Brother," The dog was listening intently, at least she could fully understand human speech. "I knew you would find out and send someone to search his house, you're too predictable." Dusky could practically see Herobrine sneering at that sentence. "Don't bother coming for the mortal if you want him kept alive." Dusky let out a low growl. "But not to worry, I won't kill him if you don't come after him. Your call, Brother."
Notch put the note on the table. Dusky was looking down. Steve wouldn't even be in danger if Dusky had actually managed to protect him.
"Do not worry; we're going to save him as soon as we can." Notch assured. "I trust him just as much as you do." So not at all then, Dusky barked but then stopped when she remembered that Notch didn't understand. "I'm almost certain he will kill Steve, he has no regards to any of my creations as far as I'm aware."
Dusky let out a yawn. She wasn't tired; just agitated. She had her ears pointed down unconsciously as well. Her tail was low and unmoving.
"You're very good when it comes to offence." Dusky was glad for the slight change of subject. "However, you do leave too many openings. We'll work on your defence tomorrow but now you must sleep." Dusky hesitated before nodding slowly. Notch was right. She knew she could never think straight when she was sleep deprived. Notch smiled. "I'll take you to the room myself; I have no official duties for the night as long as something doesn't pop up."
They both walked out and Notch lead Dusky down some slightly familiar hallways. They reached a door and Notch opened it. It was the room she and Steve slept in for that night.
"I thought you might have wished to sleep here." Dusky could still smell the lingering sent of Steve, it made her sad yet happy. She went in and Notch closer the door after saying goodnight. Dusky jumped up onto the bed. Steve's sent was stronger here. She let out a quiet whine then closed her eyes to get some sleep.
