They were ready. Notch, Dusky and his army stood before the Nether portal, all prepared to go in and fight. Dusky gazed at the setting sun, the sky turning a breathtaking mixture of pinks, oranges, purples and blues. There were no clouds to be seen. Though this was not the time to admire her surroundings, Dusky couldn't help but notice the luscious green grass beginning to darken beneath her paws as the night grew slowly closer. Her shadow was stretched long, due to the angle of the light when it hit her body. Her heartbeat was rapid and slightly uneven. She was ready for this. Ready for battle. Ready to save Steve. She would not fail this time.

On the other side of the same swirling portal stood Herobrine's army of hostile mobs. Creepers and Spiders, Zombies and Skeletons and Endermen and Witches all stood in an organised formation with the other monsters.

In front of all of them, hovered the mighty Herobrine, his snowy white eyes glowing in rage, ghastly wisps dancing in the corners. He would show his brother what happened if he tried to take HIS Steve away from him. He will make sure that Notch doesn't come back for Steve. Never again will Notch interrupt what was going so beautifully.

Herobrine had taken Steve to the library and told him he and something important that he needed to do. Steve had nodded and began to read one of the many books. It had worked and Steve wouldn't even know that he and Notch would duel. It was a perfect plan. It would not go wrong. Herobrine knee that - if Steve was to find out about the battle - Steve would try to stop it and get in the way.

All his monsters awaited his signal to enter the portal. They all were armed with swords and bows with armour shielding their bodies. As Herobrine raised his hand up into the air, every single one of the hostile mobs tensing and preparing to charge. The god let his arm linger for a moment before he pulled it down to his side and the mobs let out a battle cry before pouring into the portal. Herobrine teleported to the other side to find his army already battling with Notch's. It was just dark enough that none of the monsters would burn to a crisp. Notch was going to pay.

Speaking of which, Notch was flying above all the chaos on the surface staring at Herobrine with a bitter expression; a mixture of pain, conflict and anger. Herobrine smirked back smugly. While Notch's body was clearly stiff, Herobrine's was far more relaxed and confident as the two hovered in the air as a war raged from beneath them.

"Did you miss me, Notch?" Herobrine taunted, loving how Notch had further tensed as Herobrine spoke.

"Enough. Where is Steven?  Let him go at once and you will not suffer the consequences!" At these words, Herobrine roared with laughter and the surroundings seemed to rumble.

"Do you really think you can stop me?! Stevie isn't going anywhere, but don't worry; he is unharmed...at the moment." Herobrine recalled when he had drove that knife into the mortal's body. How Steve had screamed. While Herobrine had enjoyed the blood that poured out of the wound and it's beautiful taste, though he much preferred to see the human laughing than crying. Strange.

"Why must you do this?!" Notch demanded. "Why must you continue this way?! Just let Steven go! Do you not see the pain you cause him and all the other humans?! Do you not see how unhappy he is?!"

Herobrine's bold smirk faulted for a moment before changing into an enraged scowl, white eyes glowing slightly brighter and a heavy atmosphere surrounded the now angered god. Herobrine clenched his fists and growled. How dare Notch accuse such things.

"How would you know? Stevie is perfectly happy! He doesn't want to come back! He wants to stay with me!"

A flash of confusion spread across Notch's face before Herobrine had lunged himself at it his brother, a black fireball in each of his hands as he repeatedly swung punches at Notch, who blocked or dodged each one quickly.

Meanwhile, back in the library in the Nether, Steve had just finished reading The Legend of Herobrine. He had enjoyed it and it had been very descriptive. The book didn't only tell him about Herobrine and his possible limitations but it also was funny at points and included elements of joking. It helped explain a couple of things to him. Steve examined the blank cover, glancing at the authors name - Zara Soul - before placing the book down.
