"So how was it?" She smiled, as if remembering what it once was like to be a young adult. The excitement, the butterflies, the adrenaline, the heartbreak and heartache, the screaming, the well everything. But Harry sucked me dry of all of that, I am now only a typical sucked out young adult.
"It was, hmm indescribable really." I said, allowing myself to half smile at the memory of it.
"How so? How was it?" She asked, wanting to know all the details that a mother would.
"Horrifying."
"In what way?" She asked, giving me a curious gaze.
"It was all because of that stupid little black dress."
She and I both laughed, I told her how it was one of those typical first dates where we go out for a dinner and a movie. Nothing special, just cheesy if anything. Surprisingly, Harry acted surprisingly normal, well as normal as Harry could be actually. Was he still possessive, aggressive, sarcastic, and sweet?
Yes.
But strangely as much as I wanted to strangle him as he made a few crude remarks, I felt safe with him. I felt safer with him than I have in a while. If I ignored the fact that Harry could at times be possessive, he was a pretty decent guy.
"Lilith?" She looked at me.
"Huh? I'm sorry, I must've blanked out." I said, fiddling with my fingers.
"I asked you if you miss him." It sounded as though she already knew the answer to her own question though.
"Leading the witness!" I gave her a small smile.
"You really love seeing those crime TV shows don't you?"
"Yeah...and" I didn't know how to answer her question really.
"And you do miss him?" She asked me, her expression giving away a dead hint she knew my answer and the question I was about to ask.
"I do. I-I miss him more than you or anyone can comprehend really."
"I see, Lilith," She looked at me with pleading eyes, while trying to find the courage within her to ask the question I dreaded being asked right now. "Lilith, what did you do when you saw Harry's box in your room?"
I stopped fiddling with my fingers and looked up at her. "Nothing."
"You didn't feel anyth-" That's when I cut her off.
"Yes."
"Yes what?" She was beginning to push my buttons and I don't know how much longer I would last before I just blew up right infront of her.
"Yes I did feel something." I managed to say as it through my gritted teeth. Why can't she just stop with all these questions? Why is she putting them on me?
"What is that something that you felt Lilith?" I kept my mouth shut, it looked as though she was about so speak but her phone started ringing.
"Wait." She picked up her phone, she seemed distracted as the other person on the line kept her busy looking for a file. I took this as my chance to leave to get away. Far away, and that's exactly what I did. I picked up my bag and headed straight towards the door, but not until I wrote her a note:
No, we shall not meet tomorrow.
I left the paper on her desk and hurried outside, the cold wind whipping my hair in all sorts of directions, my cheeks flushing from the cold, and my breath shaking from the cold wind. I didn't notice, but it was already five in the afternoon. I had no idea how time passed by so quickly while talking to her, maybe cause well, actually I just don't know.
